wondering how many people will be playing old republic when it comes out, will we need a new section to cover the mmo madness? i guess we can wait and see (maybe everyone will be too busy waiting to have in star trek online lolz).

Would love to see the site get a new game to be excited about. alot of people modding "the force" yet?

I will play TOR when it comes out, but I am not sure if we need a new section for it.
Maybe for clanadverts (duh) or for peps to meet ingame organizing.

What's that? I have a feeling you mean TFU, but modding it...would be cool.

TOR's in open beta right now right? Maybe we should change this to a poll to see how many folks are playing it -or- will be playing it once its released. That'd tell us if there's enough interest.

I personally will not play any MMO ever until they're released on a console. I already pay for Xbox Live, I don't want other fees.

I'm afraid I'd get dragged into it too much and keep on playing even though I don't really enjoy it, so, I'll probably pass. Or I'll to try, at least :P

Well, as long as there is no subscription fee, I'll play this. If it is a one time pay, then they would be more of us here playing it, and in as a result of the, more of us discussing it. So yes. As long as it's a one time pay.

Ditto. Knowing MMOs, though, you're probably going to have to pay monthly, in which case I'll avoid it completely and just get the novel.

Monthly subscriptions are a big no-no with me. I'll only play it if it's free, or if you just have to buy it first.

And you call yourselves fans (sarcasm)

I for one will be playing this game even if it means getting a job (which I'll probably have to do due to subscription)

I don't want to sound harsh or anything, but I think you people are extremely arrogant.

OK, sure, I get it, it's not fun for the pocket to pay X bucks every month, but think about the approx. 1,000 people working on this game. They need money to live on.

Anyways, I am definetely getting this game, just because of the focusing on story. :music:

Capitalism isn't a charity. If something's not worth a monthly dollar commitment, then no amount of employees working on something justifies spending money on it - that's not arrogance at all.

Thousands of people work on every videogame. Your notion of not wanting monthly payments as selfish doesn't hold much water.

In the end it boils down to dollars and sense. People pay $X for playing something X number of hours (or some other intrinsic measure of value). While few parse it down this bare; if one's cost-benefit ratio doesn't fall beneath an acceptable threshold, one simply doesn't buy something.

If I'm told that I need to make a $50 initial commitment to a game as well as $10 a month, then over the course of a year I'll have paid $170 for that game. If I think that's worth it - i.e. I'll get a lot of time to play it, I'll want to play it, there will be enough communal interest in playing it - then maybe $170 is worth it. For many, it is. For many others, it's not, because they can get a year's worth of entertainment out of a few $30 games (or even old games they've already invested in). To many the idea of deciding beforehand that they'll play a game that - to be accessible - will require a consistent dollar commitment is not appealing, because they don't know if it's worth their money. To others, not knowing exactly what they're going to be paying (will I play it for three months? Five? Fifteen?) is anathema.

Tl;dr? It's their money and their choice, not arrogance.
