Sweet! Remember seeing a similar mod like this for JKA. Now that I think about, I'm surprised nobody's made a blood splatter effect for BF2

And that one's from +123 mod - I just added smoke effects to it.

Blood in Star Wars has always seemed a little chintzy to me. We never see it in any of the major works (video games, movies, tv, with the exception of the "gaffe" in Ep. 4). Is there a reason for it or is it just there to look "cool?"

What's the cantina? If you mean that it's in the Cantina [scene], then I know, which is why I said:

...which is widely noted as a canonicity error.

...because it would have instantly been cauterized. That's also the explanation they use for blaster fire. In my opinion blood in Star Wars is just weird.

I don't understand the appeal, either. It's like every Star Wars game has got some sort of blood mod.

Yes there's a reason - the RPG map/mod its for is not Star Wars. The pic is just from a sides test, with custom units from mod/map against stock rebels/imperials(testing how tough they are against stock weapons). The blood's there because that's a shotgun blast (solid projectiles not lasars). The equivalent of laser weapons (matter rifles) for that map/mod don't make blood explosions.

Oh and yes, blood in Star Wars games does seem pretty silly.


EDIT: BTW Mav thanks heaps for FFX script really opened my eyes to how to use functions, variables and such in lua.

Actually, there's blood in Republic Commando. If you get close to a Geonosian or a Trando and stab them, blood will splatter over your visor, but it's only alien blood, so it's not that realistic.

Map's name is Prologue: Awakening, location is Tiffka Coast. Story based RPG/Campaign. Woman in pic 2 is main character.

Looks pretty sweet. Is that one of your upcoming maps?
