XSI addon help and my first model

Well heres my fist model but I am having some trouble with it.
three things actually
first when I try to install the xsiaddon to export to mesh, I get this..notice the bottom

notice that error
It installs successfully but I can't use it well heres what happens next..
This is what it is supposed to look like

(Its a look out tower for a cis sniper! my favorite battle front class
So whats happening is its missing the openGL thing so I think thats why my model gets twisted when I try to export it.

The export addon only works with versions lower then 6.0.

oh ok thank you.
but what about the full version of v6? would that work?
and If i switch back to v5 what will I be missing out on from v6?

If you are just getting started or doing basics then there won't be much of a difference between 6 and 5.
You can also still work in 6 and just do an XSI export using crosswalk to get it back into 5 for export to msh.

EDIT2: also I am still getting the same error and I am now using version 5.11 ..
It gets to 0% when I try to export to msh and then the error message comes up saying "successfully saved scene before system failure"

Make sure you are just branch selecting the dummyroot and the model bits you have put under it.
Don't select the default scene root lights or camera.

Why not use Rep's MeshEx Beta 2 to export the models? It works like a dream for me

But there are still some things you need the regular exporter for, animated things, scrolling textures, and probably vertex lighting, among other things.
But if it's a simple prop or vehicle, even with transparency, it should be great for you.
