UPDATE 12/12/06

My map, today, started working again. For some unexplained reason, it let me play. Woot!

UPDATE 12/31/06

New skins, new terrain, new sky, rain, and still bugged Venator pieces. Check out the shots on page 3.

UPDATE 01/02/07

The huge error mentioned on page 3 was fixed.
-------------------------------

Hi guys. This is my first public map, and my most advanced yet. It is kind of buggy, and I need some help, advice in some fields, ect.

The story was too big to fit in the description, so I will rewrite it here, and much more longer and descriptive.

CW:

While passing through the Tripula System, a 501st Venator came under attack by a CIS cruiser. They were severely damaged, and had two choices. They would either surrender, or make a last ditch effort to flee their attackers. As fate would have it, the crew did the latter. The ship entered Tripula's atmosphere and broke into 3 major hull sections. Most of the crew lived, but the droids are coming to finish them...

GCW:

During a stop in the system for a rest, a Rebel cruiser discovered the remains of a Venator from the Clone Wars. They decided to go down and take a look, and possibly use the weapons on the surface against the Empire. Soon after, an Imperial convoy picked up their Com transmitions. They sped to the planet and prepared to attack the unsuspecting Rebels...

I need help with a few things, like how to make a Rebel carry a DC-15A rifle, and stuff. I also need to know how to make it rain, and how to make the sky Kamino, with lightning and stuff.

Ok, I will choose a few beta testers. I will probably take no more than 10, though, as I don't want to be overflowing with PMs and Emails.

And now for the beta testers:

1. Pvt Parts (You deserve it, with all the help)
2. Karnage
3. Jedi Master (The poster below this)
4. Protector_Pulch
5. Valiant?
6.
7.

I won't take too many more than that. Please note much is still pending, and I have finalized very little. The water is pending. I don't really know if I'm gonna have any, or how much if I do.

Thanks for reading this, at least.

I can beta. I have never seen a map that has peices of a capitol ship. I wonder if it has interiors (in the peices)

Nah, no interiors. I couldn't get the pieces inside. Maybe cause there's something more advanced to that?

Well, I will consider you...I will let a few hours, maybe a few days pass before I pick and choose, so everyone who wants to gets an opportunity. I won't pick just anyone though.

No, not another map with a crashed capital ship and Rain ! We already got enough of them. But the idea of "tearing apart" the Venator is fine, yet the points of fracture will be rather "cut", something that's very unrealistic. But there's no alternative.

As an alternative to the rainy terrain, you could use Dagobah, Endor and Felucia pieces, which are seldomly used, to create something really new.

I like the story and the map sounds very interesting.

I'd be happy to beta test. :D

Yeah, unless somebody sent me a custom ODF for the cut pieces. Though it isn't rainy yet...

Karnage, I'll probably count you in. You're very likely to be selected...

Thanks Hunted_One. :D

The best way to find out how to add rain is to look into the Shipped Kamino world Assets.

You can find out how to change the default sky by looking in the Documentations folder that came with the BF2_ModTools.

Open Getting Started (found in the Documentations folder), press ctrl+f and search for "Changing the Default Sky."

Hope this helps. :D

I suggest adding snow rather than rain.

Yeah, why not a snowstorm? Theres not too many of those :)

Yes, Karnage, I do know where to find the thing to change the sky. A snow storm, though? I am stumped how to change that one.

Reskin Geonosis dust.

I would, but I don't know how. I'm a newb at this still, you know. I don't know how to skin particularly well, and wouldn't the Geonosis dust cause lots of game lag?

If you use it spareingly, no. But I have to say that using it spareingly wouldn't do a good job of snow-storm atmosphere.

As for reskining it, just open it up in photoshop or gimp or something and desaturate it, then brighten it up a bit. I have some I used for fog on my map, here:

Ok good idea. But now...*grumble*...another problem. It appears that when I place minor bits of water, it causes it to crash on loading. Any suggestions for this?

That's the water in ZE.

http://img214.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... ueswk0.jpg

And that would be ZE from water placement. Is there something wrong with the values/map i'm missing here?

Read the first post and try it. That worked for me. I had no issues with water ever. Most people just get lazy and it screws em over.

Nice. Thank you dude. Now, there's another problem with water...it is blurry, in that if you move your camera, that little pieces of objects seem to streak and cause long trails along the water...do you know how to fix this? Here's a screenshot showing it...

http://img293.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... lempq9.jpg

When I did it like Jawa Killer said, not to add textures, I got it like that. Things like the HUD and sight blurred against the water. Is that normal?

http://img242.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... uresn8.jpg

When I applied the kashyyyk texture present in my world1 folder, it caused that, which looked worse. Is this fixable?

Oh, the last screens happens not to be a in-game problem, but rather one of your graphics card - ever had trouble with it ?

No, never happened before...I just noticed it when I added it.

Ok, now I want some opinions. Do any of you want me to make a little water, a lot, or none at all?

Lots of shallow water
