There is no limit in size to a map ,i know this, but iv had a problem where i die when i run from the centre of the map towards the edge(in any direction). I get about half way (i know this cos i put objects down as marker points) and die automatically . Here is the SPtest BFront.log error -

Message Severity: 2
.\source\EntitySoldier.cpp(2663)
Unit flew out of world, x = 1046.135864, z = 434.181641

If any1 has made a map size bigger than 256x256 and overcome this problem can you please let me know how you did so . I really need my map to use 512x512 or bigger .

Cheers.

PS. Phychofred i know you have tried to help me but I thought id ask other people aswell ,in case they hadnt looked at my questions thread.

so to clarify . you managed to sort this problem by making a terrain size of 1024x1024 so your soldiers could use 512x512 . Did you change the grid size and how do you change the grid size? where is it in zeroedit?

no, i ask psychofred : "when i make a mapsize like 1024x1024, can i use more of the terrain".

this is what psychofred said:

No they don't need to be a certain size, the effect is the same no matter what. I've built maps as small as 128 x 128 and as large as 2048 x 2048 as well as everything in between, everything being 256, 512, 768, and 1024. I experience the problem you had and determined it was the world wrap.

While the terrain size may be 512, that doesn't mean your playable space is, like I said earlier for reasons like being able to see the edge of the map etc. In your case you want to create a space map, and there is supposed to be a way to disable terrain rendering in game and I thought it was Enable(1559) in the sky file, but I'm not sure anymore. The tools you have work differently then those we used to create the game, what you use is more polished. You can try putting TerrainEnable(0); under DomeInfo() in the sky file, but I'm not sure if that works with the shipped game or not.

read the complete tread, i think tere is the most you nedd to know.

i dont understand what you mean by this : "Now, select the pulldown menu for file types to display and select TER."

didnt work :( im tryin to start a map from scratch ....maybe thats why?

the only other thing is that i can think of is .....i saved the TER like you said and munged , then i opened zero edit up again and put some objects in (so i can mark out whereabouts 1000m is ) and saved it as normal(not TER) and then munged and tested . did my 2nd save mess it up ????
