Saving weight presets with Mod Tool 7.5

We all know Mod Tool has some limitations that the full versions do not, saving weight presets is one of those limitations, this is disabled in the Weight editor (File>Save Preset).

The ability to save a weight preset will allow you to save your weights and completely remove the envelope operator and apply it later with the same weighting which means you won't have to get it perfect all over again from scratch.

This script will bypass that limitation and allow you to save weight presets:

Download gtEnvelope_IO_Lock.zip and extract these files:
  • GTEnvWeightIOPlugin.vbs
  • LoadEnvWeights.vbs
  • SaveEnvWeights.vbs
to:
C:\users\[username]\Autodesk\Softimage_Mod_Tool_7.5\Application\Plugins

When you start Softimage Mod Tool 7.5 you will find the commands in:
Animate > Deform > Envelope > GT EnvelopeWeight IO > Load or Save Weight

To save a preset you need to select a mesh with an envelope operator and run the Save Weight command.
The *.preset will be saved with the same name as your object in:
C:\Softimage\Softimage_Mod_Tool_7.5\Addons\ModTool_Database\Envelope

You can load the saved presets in the Weight editor (File>Load Preset) or with the new Load Weight command.

Wow that's great. are there any other reasons left for using the advanced version instead of mod tools?

Since i have some other projects still as .exp, so i'd remove the advanced version and use mod tools instead

If you did everything correctly, no. If you did something wrong and need to, let's say rearrange the bones, yes.

You can simply save a "map" of your weights and reload them later.

No that's great :funny2:

Of cause you can use this always instead of the GATOR solution (where it does not work)
