YAY! First map: Naboo: waterfront

ok.. so i got around to starting my first map...

it is around 50% done... (i think) more... but yeah.

It is taking place at the time of the battle of Naboo.

Here's a story for those of you who like them :P :

A regiment of Naboo soldiers were on patrol around some local villages of Naboo, until news of a droid attack broke out... It happened around a few villages on a large, beautiful lake. The Naboo were desperate and were losing the battle until some native gungans showed up... They came with a large force and joined with the Naboo... Another intense battle ensues...

oky doky... this is what the map will feature:

1. LOTS of water

2. Naboo soldiers, pilots, and gungans

3. edited speeds and weapon firepower :P (to make the battle more intense and realistic)

4. flyers (including the droidstarfighters)

5. AATs and STAPs... with modified speeds... (beware! I have edited the acceleration and speed of the STAPs so you go really fast.

6. Hmmm.. if i can figure out how to do it... i will make the deeper parts of the water flyable. In other words, you can fly throught the water for a short period of time.... this is optional and up to you guys...

7. If i can get a pretty decent modeller i was hoping some one could model me a Naboo boat as seen in Episode 2. It would have no weaponry, and would float on water, and it would go pretty slow :). So.. if you know any good moddlers out there, or if you are one yourself... i would really appreciate your help :P

8. plain battledroid, pilot battledroid, sniper droid, assault droid, and droideka. (No Magnagaurd and engineer)

9. If i EVER figure out how to add one in my map, a few gian speeders...

10. And yes of course: Mini's awesome N1 Naboo starfighter 8)

now... there are a few issues that i have to get rid of or fix...

1. the Naboo soldier's gun has another copy of itself on the side of him floating :? I have done EVERYTHING to fix this...

2. and some of the buildings aren't lined up perfectly....

And then here we get to the screenies :D

here are a few:

So... there it is... will post more screens soon

Nothing you can do about that, it's called the view distance, it is one of the things that prevents lag. You can make the distance larger, I don't remember how exactly anymore. I'm sure I was told how in my old Yktecsh topic, you can search for that if you're interested.

It looks really cool, very good for a first map. Just make sure to try to keep the fighting spread out everywhere.

Nice water. ;)

I believe one would edit the sky file to achieve that.

Changing view distance, etc.:

1.Browse to C:\BF2_ModTools\data_NAR\Worlds\NAR\world1 (NAR would be your worldID)

2. Open NAR.sky with Microsoft NotePad.

3. Edit these lines:

PC()
{
NearSceneRange(30.0, 160.0, 40.0, 200.0);
FarSceneRange(5000.0, 5000.0);

FarSceneRange(5000.0);
FogRange(-100.0, 600.0);
}

4. Munge, and try it out. (You might want to do a clean munge before munging)

You should reskin the droidfighter to look like the ones in Episode I.

i tried it, but when i try to save it says:

Cannot create the C:\BF2_modtools \dataNav\worlds\NAVworld1\NAV skyfile.

then it says make sure the path and file name are correct.. what's wrong?

EDit: how would i reskin the droidfighter? Do i have to create a skin or can i just change somehting in its odf?

elmo, the naboo gaurd gun problem is the hud. I've added gian speeders into my map ( but they don't respawn) and tean definately has (Haruun Kal). To reskin something, go to the msh folder of it's side, then open the tga file of the thing you want to reskin with an image editing program. But anyways, Great job! :D

thx TUskenjedi! I *might* skin the starfighter but oh well... TuskenJedi>... what is the odf name for the Gianspeeder?

by Tuskenjedi
well, I got it straight from the naboo assets, and from there I placed in ZE. I think it was "nab_hover_gianspeeder." You actually might be able to use the name in vehicle spawn fields... if you put it into your assets, of course.

Ooh, this looks promising. It's good to see a map without the Yavin sky or a crashed capital ship for once. :D

And another hint to viewing distance ingame: Go to options and to video options and change the viewing distance!

Rofl. I agree. I love how it looks so far, Elmo. And as a heads up, I don't reccomend using the nab1_prop_fountain if you're using the naboo assets. It's been giving me crashing problems because of missing effects.

Umm...no 2210 :roll:. Wow Elmo! This is amazing. :D I think the water is fine, it looks really clear if its glossy like that like it was on Naboo. I think the sky is fine too. Oh and one more thing...could you help me put those fighters into my map...pretty please :mrgreen:

well, elmo, just place them there in ZE, and make them strong, so they don't die quickly is one option. And, umm, tean might be a better person to refer to than me, if you can catch his eye :wink:
