Windows 7

Post by Caleb1117 »

Hey guys, I was wondering, for those of you who know. Is Windows 7 more compatible with older programs?
Vista had alot of problems with running certain programs that where made before the "era of Vista" which spawned alot of frustration. I know "7" was created with the intent to solve some of these problems, but where they successful?

I'm planning to get a laptop sometime soon and I wanted to know if I should go for "ye olde XP" or if Windows 7 can cut it.

Microsoft says it has more compatibility, but it’s built off of vistas drivers. Im not exacly sure if it has more, but if you get ultimate or professional, you can get windows xp mode. Which you can download, but you are installing xp on that pc also.

It always depends on what you're using it for. XP is definitely less hardware intensive, but doesn't have the support for the newer stuff. If you're getting a netbook or another laptop to use as such, XP of course would do. If you plan on playing games, I'd recommend 7. Windows XP Mode should allow for better backwards compatibility, but as a last resort.

So far it's run almost everything I've thrown at it. I love it and definitely recommend it. I'm totally gonna get it when it comes out.
