Red Alert! Yet ANOTHER terrible movie down the road!

Post by Darth_Squoobus »

Alvin and the Chipmunks 2: The Squeakquel. Yes, that's right. They're making a sequel to that awful product-placement centered travesty known as Alvin and the Chipmunks. Movies have gone down the tubes.

Oh, I have been on "Terrible Movie Red Alert" for years now, it's part of my day-to-day routine, there are always news of an upcoming silly movie adaptation based on some long forgotten franchise of toys, books, or whatever. I don't care anymore.

Anyway, some people seem to like this stuff, so I guess you will have to hold your opinion to yourself and endure the storm...

Wow, rude much?

The original was very good, and I expect the "Squeakquel" to be even better! Don't bash something on a forum just because you don't like it, that's a good way to start a flame war.

the only reason i didn't like the new one as much was simply because it was live-action. same thing with scooby-doo. computer generated images of funny animal cartoon shows i watched as a kid do not suffice as live action CGI films. but, what's good is that they brought alvin and the chipmunks back from the dead, as no emo hair-flipping thirteen year old would have known what it was today if that movie did not come back.

oh and this movie is old news, known about it since last year.

Yeah, kids movie. Commercials are annoying to me though.

Agreed. Their voices remind me of the little kids I have to play with on Xbox Live. And I'm not gonna pay to put up with that more than I already do.

I understand they're trying to introduce tasteless kids to a forgotten cartoon series, but live-action adpatations of cartoons are less about reviving a memorable series and more about commercialization of childhood. I have nothing against the cartoon. Perhaps the movie would have been better if it weren't live-action. They tried to do things you can only get away with in a cartoon.

I know it's a kids movie, but often whenever someone has to lower their expectations for a certain genre, it's a bad sign for both that particular genre and for movies as a whole.

I know, I'm a pushy loudmouth, but I don't want to see more movies like this!
Then don't watch them!
But how am I supposed to be able to avoid the annoying trailers and TV spots? I can't even get away from it on the internet!

You can be like everyone else and just ignore it...

There are always going to be people, movies, video games, and who knows what else that you won't like. You can't change that, so deal with it.

It's a movie many people will go see and like, regardless of what anyone says... If that wasn't the case they wouldn't be making it.
