swbf2 laying animation from swbf1
In SWBF1 you could lay down if you pressed c twice,
this was really cool and usefull for snipers! Is it possible to
Import that Animation/Feature to swbf2? This would be really
really awesome =)

Its been discussed many times. You cant add a new button function, if you try to replace crouching the collision does not change.

Basically, you can *sort of* replace the crouch animations with the prone animations from SWBF1, but not only will the unit still use the crouch state collision, the shots will come out of the point that they come out of when crouched, and both of those things are hardcoded and cannot be altered.

You can actually add new button functions (really only Zerted knows how), but yeah, one of the two main issues is the collision.MileHighGuy wrote:You cant add a new button function, if you try to replace crouching the collision does not change.

Prone is one of the many things that was left out of this game because it was so rushed. Prone, voice chat, direct IP connection, the list goes on. All the files were there and ready to be incorporated, they just never had time to put them into the game.

I think you can direct connect to ip addresses by adding a line to the shortcut target, but thats off topic.LRKfm946 wrote:Prone is one of the many things that was left out of this game because it was so rushed. Re: swbf2 laying animation from swbf1
It's very sad that pandemic put a lot of things out. Example cockpit views for all vehicles, maybe rhen var, other planned units and modes, proning and a lot of other things. I heard they had 14 month for swbf2 developement. Really short. Sometimes I wish they had spent a little bit more time for the npc`s, some other bugs and more. I am happy with Swbf2 but If there were a lot of more things and so on why they did not add them? Anyway maybe this is one of the big reasons why it is so easy to modify this game with the bf2_modtools. It was (or is still) good for buisniss because without mods swbf2 were after 1 year boring. But with mods it is still interesting and fun.
Back to topic: If someone knows how to add new key functions and new animations why It should not be possible to add proning to battlefront2?
By the way: Do you think they will add proning for the next battlefront?

Being able to go prone is (or isn't, rather) part of the game's executable. In order to add something new to it, you'd have to have the source files for the .exe (which I'm assuming none of us have), add in prone somewhere, and recompile the .exe.
And yes, I 100% believe that there will be prone in the new game. There's no way DICE would leave that out.

WOW really short developement time! But why they removed laying? There is no reason for removing such a nicethelegend wrote:It's very sad that pandemic put a lot of things out. Feature, maybe if they made swbf2 from scratch... they didn't, did they? But anyway, I think pandemic did a good Job with swbf2, cause
after some many years it still has a little community =)

Re: swbf2 laying animation from swbf1
As I was told by some ex-developers it broke while working on the new jedi combo features and they did not have the time nor development budget to fix it before release. As far as a patch goes they would not have had much money left over. Patch money is usually in very short supply.RacoonLR wrote:WOW really short developement time! But why they removed laying? I never thought about the combo system conflicting with prone :O that explains a lot. I still feel like it wouldn't have been that hard to fix if they were given another month or so. Then again, so is almost every other bug in the game.

We say that, but none of us were there developing the game.LRKfm946 wrote:I never thought about the combo system conflicting with prone :O that explains a lot.
