They are making a movie out of the classic Children's book, Where the Wild Things Are...and this may just be me, but I think that is incredibly awesome. Because I loved that book as a kid. At first you may think that it may just be some silly kids movie, but I think they are taking it to another level...but it's hard to say. Just...take a look at this...

I know, I was thinking the same thing when I ran across an article with the video. Out of curiosity I watched it, and was surprised...

That's kinda a different take on the mood/theme of the book as I remember reading it with, but I like it.

I must say I am looking forward to that movie but, . . .how are they going to make that small book into a full-length movie?

I'm wondering that myself...

It would appear to me that they are giving some kind of "evil" twist hence, (in the trailer I saw) them running from some unseen danger that obviously threatened their lives.

Yeah it does seem to have a dark element to it, which I'd like.

I am going to look up the key characters in the book and post them here so we can debate on which are going to be in the movie and which aren't.

I can't imagine anything in the book not being in the movie...working from such a small source...might as well utilize everything.

Last time I went to the movies with a bunch of friends, we saw a poster for that, and I have to say, everyone thought it was a pretty sweet idea.
I have to say, it's pretty cool that it's live action instead of animated.

Where the Wild Things Are came out today. I just got back from seeing it. I have to say that it was a bit different than I thought it was going to be. For those of you that don't know, it's roughly based off of a popular children's book of the same name. I first thought it was going to be a kids movie with some darker more mature themes that would entertain older viewers, especially those that read the book as a kid. Though I thought it was going to lean more towards the first, it really turned out to be quite an amazing movie. The only way I can describe it is that it's a kids movie that isn't geared towards kids. I'm sure many kids will enjoy this movie, but nonetheless, the real value of this movie is for those who might be a bit older (such as myself) and want to feel like a kid again. Not to sound cliche'd, but this movie really does a good job of putting the viewer in a mind of a troubled but creatively imaginative ten-year old. I'd go more into it, but I feel that this article pretty much sums up my opinion of the movie:

I would
definitely recommend anyone to see this movie, even if they can't stand the indie music.

I'm not as convinced, Dann. Movies like this often suffer from a case of departure from the source material and a side of filler. Kid's books aren't meant to be made into two-hour long movies, they simply don't have enough content. Because of this, the movies often deviate wildly from the book, retaining only the most basic elements and filling the resulting holes with the aforementioned "filler" (Are you reading this,
Polar Express?

).

well he was right in saying this was a kid's movie not for kids. it was definitely made for the whole nostalgia feel to it. plus maurice sendak, the author, helped with working on the movie.

Aha. I had a feeling that I had already made a single topic about this movie. Thank you to the moderator or admin who combined the topics.
