W.I.P.: Prime Front{Version 1.50}
Posted: Sat Nov 08, 2008 11:59 pm
--After some time, I have a new update for Prime Front!
There have been some drastic changes since version 1.00, including the removal of all but one Prime Front map(Torvus Bog is IN the makes, but if I rush it to be released for 1.50, I fear I may make it sloppy), Restoring all but five shipped maps, putting ctf modes, and overall class setup and unit setup. In any case, read below for the main gist of this mod. If you already know, then head down just a bit further.--
Prime Front
Prime Front is a mod that brings the Metroid(Mostly the Primes) series into a battlefront setup. The sides are based on the two major fractions of the Metroid universe, and both will have their own setups of units, visuals, and weapons. Also, there will be heroes, ranging from the main cast to the mostly unknown characters. Of course, there will be maps based on several locations from the Metroid universe, as well as made-up ones. Finally, their will be different kinds of modes to play in, to the classic Conquest mode to the -still-in-the-works- Death Match. Read below for more information on the different subjects.
Units & Fractions
As I said earlier, there are two fractions to play as in Prime Front. Here's the get down on them:
Galactic Federation
The Galactic Federation are the leading force of the galaxy. They ensure that peace is maintained and order. Their military is mostly made up of humanoid races, since they are the most versatile creatures.
Space Pirate Confederation
Not much is known about them, only that they are group of very powerful(and rich) Space Pirate Organizations. This data was recently discovered. In any case, the pirates have access to rather power military grade weapons, as they are expected to fight against Federation armed forces.
Classes
The bread and tofu of this mod, while both fractions have pretty much the same setup of units, they do have two units exclusive to them. In any case, here is the class setup:
Rifle Man
The back bone, cannon fodder, weaklings, what ever you like to call them, the Rifle Man class are the most numerous class in pretty much every mod you find. They are armed with the standed setup of a rifle, a pistol, and a few grenades.
Grenadier
While this class exists in other mods, this class completely replaces the Rocketeer class. What makes them so much more useful is their handy grenade launcher. It has some what of the same fire power, but can be used much more safely then a rocket launcher.
Support
Originally to be a under powered Officer class, they have several just as useful gear to help their comrades in battle. They have a few recon droids and some mines to help ease the pressure of their allies.
Engineer
Was going to be called the Medic class, but they would be pretty much the same thing, with only a different title. Same as the shipped Engineer class, but have grenades instead of det packs.
Officer
Slightly improved from version 1.00, they only have a smg and a buff that restores health and increases defenses and damage.
Commando
No, not that commando, basically, they are a buffed up version of the rifleman class. The only downside is the lower fire rate of their main weapon and their slower movement.
Now, each fraction have their own two special units. Here are their info:
Feds:
Sniper
Almost the same as the shipped one, but only has a sniper rifle and a pistol.
PED Marine
While not the same as the PED Marine from MP3, his is still a very powerful unit. His main weapon is the PED rifle. It's basically a two-hit killer, but it has a very, very slow fire rate, and has very limited ammo.
Pirates:
Jet Trooper
Probably the most fastest unit in Prime Front, they can move VERY fast while hovering, and are nigh impossible to hit in the air. However, they can die pretty fast.
Shadow Trooper
A melee based unit, it relies on the element of surprise since it can cloak it self. Like the jet trooper, it can die fast.
Maps
The has been a rather large change to Prime Front's maps. Only Chozo Ruins will be in this mod. The reason for the removal of the other maps is because I felt that I could have done better on them, and so I removed them after I redo them. Chozo Ruins remained because I felt it was a good finished product. I did some retouching though. It now has much more cover. I'm currently setting up a open beta that will only have that map. The closed one will be starting near the end of the week.
In any case, here are the names of the planned maps:
Brryo: Cliff Side Temple
Phendrana Drifts: Ice Valley
Almbic Cluster: Vespen Defense Station
Magmoor Caverns: Lava Lake
Phazon Mines: Mining Complex
Chozo Ruins: Ruined Valley<Finished>
Helios Prime: Federation Base
Torvus Bog: Misty Cove<currently being worked on>
Argon Waste Lands: Desolated Farm Lands
K-2L: Spaceport<In planning phase>
Zerbes: Underground Caverns
Malakaar IX: Navel Base
Elysia: Sky Town
Norion: Defense Base
Verlink: Transit Tunnel
Space Norion
Space Tallon IV
Space Phaaze
Verlink Air Space
Elysia Air Space
Modes
It'll be pretty dull if you only had to play conquest all the time right? So, I have begun putting the modes to accompany Prime Front. Here is a list of modes:
CTF
Standed CTF and 1-Flag, but have Ocolithes instead of flags.
Wave Mode
--Script, enemies and layout are still being planned, I'm still learning how to do this.--
Wave mode pits you against wave after wave of enemies. Still deciding whether to make act as Halo's firefight mode, or Battle Arena's mode.
Death Match
--Script is in the makes, but there are not enough heroes to fill it up.--
Death Match pits eight of the heroes against each other. Unlike hero assault, every is on there own.
Highly Unlikely
Boss Mode
I hope to try and recreate some of the boss battles of the Metroid Prime games, but I'm still figuring out on how to this...
Heroes
As a said, they will be heroes in Prime Front. They are all gunners, and there will be some made-up ones to make up larger total hero count.
Here's a list of Heroes that will appear for 1.50:
Sylux
Same as his 0.50 version, but has a much better skin now.
A unknown being who harbors a strong hatred of the Galactic Federation for unknown reasons. It also hates their hero, Samus Aran and wishes to kill her. It is speculated that it was part of the Federation before it became Sylux. Even it's gender is not known!
Melissa Venfur
Armed with a Pimped up Tri-Shot and missile. She's a made-up hero.
Adam Malkvioch(I wrote that right, right?)
A Federation Officer of high status, he has a great proficiency with pistols. He may be a dual wielder...
Kandan
A genetically engineered creation, he shows signs of constant mental breakdowns and has pretty much lost his mind. He seeks to be a respected hunter in the "market". Main weapon is his Volt Driver, which homes in by it self if fully charged.
Other
Some information that doesn't fit in any of the above subjects:
Prime Front uses a unique health system. All units have shields, but that makes up a larger total HP. For example, the Rifle Man class only has 400HP, but their shields give them an extra 200. Of course, the shields do not regenerate. Adam's buff, how ever, can restore them in a pinch.

As you can see, I have a lot planned for Prime Front, and I have much work to do. Version 1.50 will be released by December 15th, 2009. The open beta will be uploaded hopefully tonight, and I will start looking for closed beta testers soon. After the open beta is released, I will open up closed beta slot list. Wait for further instructions for the closed beta. Also, if you would like to help, I need some localizers to localize Prime Front to other languages. Also, I need a exporter. Please PM if you are interested. That's all for the time being.
Pictures are almost ready, so please wait.
