I really liked the little speech tid-bits.
"We'll bang, ok?"

I'll take it. Though I think your butt is a bit more important.

Hey guys. Unification's massive 1.1 patch is getting close to being ready to be released, so I thought I'd let you all in on what's been going on with the changes that have been made thus far.
Release #2: Change Log (10-01-2013):
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/384 ... efined.txt
Also, a few notes about the release:
- We will most likely release two variations of the new version: the patch, and then the standalone version. The patch will only include content that has been updated, and the standalone will include everything. We might also release a Steam version - more info on that later.
- The installer issues are hopefully going to be fixed, but don't get your hopes up. (If anybody here has ANY experience scripting installers using NSIS, your help will be much appreciated. Please send me a message if you're interested. We currently use Inno Setup and it's pretty awful, albeit easy to use.)

The darkness can not be breached.
Soon we'll be releasing Mass Effect: Unification r2(1.1), but before we do that we have a few things to finish up. In the meantime, let's show you some of the stuff we've been working on.
The Systems Alliance has been redone so many times I'm beginning to lose count, and I know for a
fact we're not done with it.
My instructions were simple when I took over the development of the Alliance's graphical design, make it so each of the classes were easily distinguished from eachother. I wanted to recreate the visual style of the Alliance Marines in Mass Effect 3 at the same time. My solution was to add class specific markings as you all know. The Soldier would remain untouched while the Infiltrator (green), Adept (cyan), Engineer (gold), Sentinel (purple), and Vanguard (red) got distinctive visual markings.
Unfortunately I was very unhappy with the end result, as were quite a lot of our fans. So without further ado, I present my redesigned Alliance Marine textures. Only the Soldier remained the same.
Infiltrators now have map-type specific camo. For instance on Kamino the camo will be a grey urban design, and on Dagobah they have a green and brown jungle camo.
Alliance Vanguard
Alliance Sentinel
Alliance Adept
Alliance Engineer
Alliance Infiltrator (Desert)
Alliance Infiltrator (Snow)
Alliance Infiltrator (Jungle)
Alliance Infiltrator (Urban)
And to wrap it off, Marth fixed the hex shields on Virmire. We also added glow to a lot of weapons, the Geth Pulse Rifle being one of them.
We hope you all enjoy these changes as much as we do. If not, leave a comment below about what you have an issue with and if we agree with you and have the ability to do so we shall change it.

Plain and simple.

Not sure I understand. The classes have this look on every map (obviously excluding the Infiltrator)?

Correct.
Only the Infiltrator changes based on the map, for now anyway. The Soldier, Engineer, Adept, Sentinel and Vanguard look the same no matter the map.
The reason for that is again, making sure all the classes are easily distinguishable from eachother.

I hate to say it, but I think they look a bit too distinguishable. The saturation of those various classes, while perhaps suitable for busier map environments, jumped out at me as jarring against the more dull Kamino. The ones I disliked the most were the Adept and Sentinel.
For example, the clones and droids in stock Clone Wars don't have as many vibrant colors. I remember playing a mod once where one team was various gaudy reskins of Boba Fett, and it was a bit visually overwhelming. Sadly, I was reminded of that a bit when looking at the skins (Maybe you could share some pictures of a bunch of these units in a group to show what it looks like). Also, I don't remember seeing so many bright colors when playing Mass Effect (I have only played the first two games, though).
While I like the general colors (the hues, I guess), I think the soldiers are a bit too saturated. The Infiltrator reskins all look wonderful, though. Perhaps you could bring the other classes a bit closer to that unit stylistically (not in design/pure appearance, just general style).
Anyway, I hope I communicated that well enough. *stock disclaimer about this being my opinion, intended as constructive criticism to help improve mod, final choice is yours, etc.*

I'm very happy with the Engineer and Vanguard, and mostly happy with the Sentinel. I might end up making adjustments to the Adept, since it's the only one I'm not really satisfied completely with.
Thank you for the feedback.
EDIT: Also, for the colors I'm basing it largely off of the possible armor colors in ME3 and ME2. For the camo, I based it off of ME1 armor.

Awesome new skins, WULF. I also especially like the Infiltrator variants. They're like a blend of modern military and futuristic. And that hex shield! It's been hexed up in a good way!

I really like the new vehicle scope, definitely has that mass effect "feel" to it. Great work
Will we be seeing any new vehicles besides the mako and gunship in the next update?

This is probably better than new vehicles anyways, improve what you've got before you add more.

Ooh, good scope. A nice contrast to the slew of cocentric circles we usually get.
