Re: Glamour Skins (Part II)
I'm just trying to make it easier for me, a very artisically challenged person, to make a skin.Bac-Talan wrote:erm... Don't?
If you have the opacity at less than 100, and you go over it more, it will look closer to 100... I don't know, what are you trying to do?
The only relatively good skin I've ever made was this one:

Unfortunately, ingame it looks like a leopard.
Also, someone had some plain white clones, which were good for skinning. Does anyone have those? (There's one in the FAQ, but I thought someone released the whole side)

Here is a hint to the "secret" (I want you to figure it out):
Has anyone here ever messed around with the Path tool in GIMP? (This might not be a secret to many of you).

Yes-it's in the main interface directly under the rectangular select tool.

Well ya, you can use the path tool to make better selections and lines, but I'm not sure what it's really good for. (I haven't used it much)

Re: Glamour Skins (Part II)
Not a bad start, Thunder, but there are more than a few things that could use improvement.
First off, it looks to me like you're using the paint bucket tool set to recognize regions (or whatever) and filling in parts of the skin. Instead, try making selections (use the scissors (in gimp, magic wand in PS or something) and filling in the whole thing. You'll get more professional looking areas colored in.
Secondly, look at the parts of the skin you've painted over. Just solid color, right?
Try what you can to make the lovely details the pandemic folks put on the skin show through. Especially shadowed areas, highlights and scratches/other irregularities. Those will give your skins a lot more life.
Overall, looks like you've made a nice start, just keep practicing. Read online tutorials (about any image manipulation) to get a hang of the tools and what tricks you have up you're virtual sleeve. Good luck!
