Is it possible to make models for swbf2 and convert them to odf and msh with XSI 6.02 instead of 5.1 ??

odfs have nothing to do with models. But from what I've heard, the newer versions of XSI don't work with the BF2 export tool.

- but what I know from friends who uses it, it works

I think it depends on which one you use, though.. apparently one of them doesn't work

i think........ you can make a model with xsi 4.2 and convert it with the 3d object converter to .msh

yeah that is if you buy the 3d object converter.
3DOC can't convert a file to SWBF msh

3DOC can't convert a file to SWBF msh filetype, it can only open them and convert them to other formats.
The Pandemic xsiaddon and BConstructor are the only ways to export or save to SWBF msh filetype.

but with the object converter you can open a model into .msh and save it to .x than you can open the model with xsi and make some changes......save it and convert it back to .msh
???? right ????

3DOC: .Msh -> .Obj
XSI: Any XSI Model -> .Msh

I'll just say it loud and clear: 3D Object Converter can NOT convert any file to MSH. Only XSI (and BConstructor) can do that, but they cannot import MSH files.

because the developers of the game didnt want people opening up their models for plagiarism reasons, be cool and make your own models.

Ok now I know that the 3D Object Converter doesn't work ... But what's now with the XSI 6.0 ??? It would be great if I could make .msh's with this version

you can... and if you actually DO manage to find 'the version' which doesn't work, ask around.. I know people have bought 6.0 and making it working

What about the modtool v6? Is it new? I just noticed it now, but I don't think the pandemic scripts work on this, although wouldn't it seem that they would work? XSI references Pandemic as a user. In comparison to 4.2, will it do anything spectacularly better?

it is FAR better especially since it includes gator and ultimapper as well as alot of other modeling tools that 4.2 lacks that werent implemented until XSI 5 and 6 were released, other than the default layout its almost identical to XSI 6, even has all the importers and exporters and of course you can change the layout to default in the view menu.

The only one I know of that has a working .msh exporter is the XSI Foundation.

softimage never made a mod tool version of the exporter and pandemic had no way to since the code is different. i have the full version of XSI 6.1 but i strongly suggest anyone whos using mod tool to upgrade, besides SWBF2 is an old game thats already outdated in terms of gameplay and visual design and mod tool 6 can export to other games without any addons.

Actually, they (pandemic) did finish off the Mod Tools code, but Softimage decided they wouldn't release it for XSI Mod Tools. The scripts were all done as the regular exporter was.. Softimage just didn't get enough money to see it as an investment I guess... (it's freeware vs forced-to-buy-it.. which one would you pick as a company, seriously?)
I'm at least glad that the XSI 6 Mod tools can export to something other than .XSI

The old mod tools could export to something else than .xsi as well. Yes, it was an addon, but when you have the addon installed, it works perfectly for Half Life 2 (CS:S, HL2 Ep1 and ep2(tbr), DOD, Gmod, Team Fortress 2(tbr)and Portal(tbr) as well, since they're all Source⢠games). The source engine is so easy to mod, it's great to work with, especially since it's upgraded almost with every new game Valve releases. That's why you haven't seen me on this forum any more.
