First off if this is in the wrong place, feel free to move it, Zerted recommended I post them in the assets board though ;)

I found an awesome source for 360 degree panoramic high quality sky images :D
All you have to do is download the image and resize it (I use 1024 pixels by 512 pixels size via Adobe Photoshop CS3, with "Nearest Neighbor" resampling), save it as a .tga, open your ###.sky file and change the DomeModel bit to point to the correct image:

DomeModel()
{
Geometry("skynamehere");
}

I have a problem. I did what you said, i downloaded the skys. I opened the preferred one in gimp, made it 1024X512. I saved it as a .tga with RLE compression off. i put it in my ***/world1 folder. I opened the ***.sky and put the sky name in there. I munged and played, but when the map opened, the sky was completely black, and in water, the reflection of the above sky was some fuzzled-up, mixed-up colour Star Wars Battlefront 2 logo. So i tried again, this time changing the DomeInfo bit from sky_yavin2 to

Code: Select all

DomeInfo()
{
	Texture("iras-100um");
I munged again, and the same things happened again. what am i doing wrong :(

EDIT: sorry for the bump, but i need help on this

@carfanaticphil

Try using a sky file from a premade map and just edit the line for the image file name

Sorry for the bump, but here is a new set they just released called "Environment." I've updated the old links too in the first post so they should work again.
