Capture the Flag

This is not a game but merely one of the aspects that games usually have called Capture the Flag.
Does CTF ever work for you guys? Cuz whenever I play CTF on Halo it never seems to work and I'm forced to sit there and kill guys until the timer runs out or the other team decides to take the advantage of the weaker side and successfully win the game. I've rarely won CTF online due to my teammates lack of teamwork. It would seem that CTF would only work with a group of friends on a XBL party chat cuz otherwise going lonewolf-style is futile. It won't work and I'm a pretty experienced Halo player to tell you that.

Just learn the fastest and most covered routes if you're by yourself. Back in Battlefront 2 I once managed to run away from 4 rocketeers and Luke on Jabba's Palace because I knew some crazy paths and jumps.
For Reach when alone:

In TF2 they allow you to make teleporter 'entrances and exits' if you play as the engineer class. If you manage to get into the base just build a teleporter exit and a sentry gun in their flag capture. Sp people can just telport into thir base without skill. As with other games just use weapons that make you run faster and use a class that runs faster and just.... run : )

Lol, like I haven't tried that strategy before.

In HALO: Combat Evolved, CTF was absolutely legit. Easily the staple of the game. I'm surprised you're having trouble with it in Reach.

The problem with Reach is that the game rewards time played, kills, and medals like Rejection and Revenge, so people just use Objective games as Slayer+.
If you go in without people you know you often have to get the objective yourself, and most of the time that means going -23 because Joe Pimpleton is just sitting there with a sniper at the back of their base waiting for you.

Of course, the task of that engineer to infiltrate the enemy base and start building those buildings without getting noticed by ANYONE (like a spy or the enemy engineer, who is usually building his own sentry gun next to his flag DAYS before your engineer can get across the map unnoticed) is next to impossible and requires so much skill in terms of the personal skill of the engineer and the skill of his teammates to cover him while he tries to sneak into the enemy base.
My strategy for CTF is to wait for an opening. Or create one myself.
Example: In Battlefront II, both factions are fighting over the flag, your faction ALMOST gets there, but is wiped out before anyone can do anything. However, they took quite a few enemies with them in their run. You now have less than 15 seconds before those enemies spawn to take out the rest of the obstacles and grab the flag long enough to bring it at least closer to friendly territory so your team can hopefully do the rest.
Or to create an opening, charge in knowing you're going to die, but instead of going directly to the flag, focus on taking out as many people as possible in a short amount of time. If ANYONE besides you is going after the flag, even when you die, their job is going to be ALOT easier until the enemy respawns.
Second Example: In TF2, I play Spy alot. If I'm successful, I can wipe out the enemy engineer and his sentry gun, and backstab a bunch of enemies as they head to fend off my teammates, creating an opening for them to rush into the enemy base and take the flag.

With maps such as CTF_2FORT I take the underground entrances. Everybody just wants to kill on top.... meanwhile the sewers lead straight to their base. Well I only play FORT lol : P

Can't tell you, I always loose in CTF on Team Objective and MLG. Either way, I end up with the bad players. Speaking of, I was playing Elite slayer and I took control of a Revenant. Some recruit got mad at me and kept on disabling my Revenant. I got out of the Revenant and got into a Ghost. He kept it up. Then he almost betrayed me, and went on a spree trying to kill anyone on our team. I meleed him once to warn him, and then he actually killed someone. Good thing that n00b got booted.

Matchmaking is pretty bad. One way or another, you end up with terrible team players. Back on the topic of CTF, I've come close, but I usually get splattered or killed by a DMR when I'm halfway back to my base. Even worse, when I ask my teammates to escort me, they don't. They just sit around in the middle of the map trying to get as many kills as they can, thinking that there is a Kills=Win kind of system.

Just always go for the flag. At least in Halo 3/Reach there are always plenty of people just looking for kills - they figure a teammate will defend the base and another will get the flag, which means that there's usually nobody (or very few people) defending the base and usually only 1-2 going for your flag.
But in all honesty I loathe Halo 3/Reach's CTF. People just keep "throwing" the flag by picking it up and dropping it over and over (though that doesn't help in Reach). So you keep hearing:
"Flag Taken"
"Flag Dropped"
"Flag Taken"
"Flag Dropped"
"Flag Taken"
"Flag Dropped"
"Flag Taken"
"Flag Dropped"
"Flag Taken"
"Flag Dropped"
"Flag Taken"
"Flag Dropped"
... yeah, that's another reason why I only play shooters during LAN game nights. I can't stand online, and at a game night I have a chance of not getting smoked in every game.

They patched that in Reach, the only time you can flag throw is if you're playing stockpile (no noise) or you have changed the setting yourself (MLG). In Halo 3 it became necessary if you wanted to win, but I do admit, it was really annoying.
Too bad flag never really caught on in Battlefront 2. It really worked well on Squipple/Eddie's Italia map. If I still had his map pack installed I'd probably go play it, but I don't and I don't want to stress my C Drive anymore then it already is.
