Currently only Linus is on the KoToR era, since it was his idea. But could I ask you to wait to release your maps until all the other ROTS maps are finished please?

Looks good so far. Make sure you add plenty of snow, mist and fog like there was in the movies.

It depends on how quickly the others are completed. I've made much less progress than I thought I had so it probably won't be finished that quickly anyway

.
@Idea people: C'mon guys! I need a decent name for Space Coruscant! Please?

If I can jump in here:
1-I've had 10+ years in modding. I've been on tons of mod teams. Let me suggest very strongly that you stick to one movie at a time. Spreading your team apart is a recipie for disaster. Trust me, I know.
2-Someone (forget who) PM'd me about getting a specific forum for MovieFights. I'm all for that, but there's gotta be some progress made. My suggestion is to keep the first post updated with information and screenshots. That helps everyone see what's going on, what still needs to be done, and can help the staff notice when you guys are ready for your forum.
3-As individuals in a team, don't spread yourself thin. If you're a mapper, work on ONE map. If you gotta have another map to keep sane, don't make it a map specific to the mod. Make it something just fun to play around with to take a break, test things you might like to do in your mod's map, etc. Again, trust me. I've learned from experience.
That being said, I wish you guys the best and hope to get a forum for you here at GT. So back to work! *cracks whip*

1) I've got to agree on this, but our members are all better in one specific movie/era. I'm the best in GCW, while other dudes in our team are probably much better in CW. We might reorganize things if it really turns out to be a disaster, but we can't our mappers just delete their maps because they aren't in the same movie the major part of the team is working on.
2) I did (in name of the MovieFights team thought) ^^ But since arty resigned yesterday, we might be able to reorganize things without ppl needing to delete any maps they are already working on.
3) We do work on just one map, but I for example already take another map, but put it on hold until the map I'm currently working on is finished.
But anyway thanks for the advice Tean =P

I have to agree with Teancum on the first one, but the thing is that we only have two mappers at the moment. What I'll do is finish Space Coruscant (I'm not rushing it though) and then move onto one of the other ESB maps.
Hoth's looking good still. Don't forget to put hills all around the map; this way the sky won't look buggered because the Hoth sky is just mirrored.

I'll do that later, but after placing hint nodes all over the map, the map crashes! 0o I don't get any Servertity 3 messages in the Debug log. The map crashes after I choose a unit, spawn with it. Then I can fire a few bolts with its weapon and then it crashes. I know my sides aren't causing the conflict, because they are the same sides I used in the previous build and things only started to crash after placing those hintnodes 0o
@Rekubot: I'm also gonna do a Space Hoth map as an 'extra' for Hoth before I'll start onto any other maps. Just to let you know, and also to know what you dudes would think of this idea

EDIT: Finally figured out what went wrong. Not the HintNodes, but the hubs [diet dr.pepper] up the game.

It's a little off-topic, but may I ask how you managed to crash the game with
hubs? It's not like there's some formatting error you can make with them. Can you have too many hubs?

Yes you can have to many hubs, and to many connections as well. Im not sure what the limit is but it'll give you a crash.
Also, a tip to Soul, and everyone else around here, do the hint nodes/planning stuff last. (I dont mean you cant setup a reudimentary (sp?) planning grid immediatly, but for all the little side routes and other things..)
Or at least after you've finished the design and layout of your map. You might add a hill, or maybe place a new cp, and end up wanting to totally redo your planning. So I'd recommend waiting.
And as for the hint nodes - they're something thats not really necesary, but are totally dependent on how you want gameplay (though more specifically how gameplay is). As your map changes, its gameplay will as well. Hint nodes, like the major planning, should wait till after you've got your map design and layout finished.

Hey, how about looking outside your group for help? ask some of us to help out. I can do the sides and Localizations for all the sides for your maps.
Posted: Thu Dec 07, 2006 6:22 pm
by PvtParts
Oh speaking of localizing...
Instead of going through for every language (which for anyone with a lot of localizing is a pain), you can simply copy the contents of the language you use (presumably english or uk_english) into the other languages.

Murdock is very welcome to the team... but is'nt he called Murdocr?
at Hoth could you make one engineer/medic-class and one pilot-class? and the medic/engineer could be the original rebel-engineer reskinned with snow-clothes and medic marks...my biggest idea yet
don't forget to PM me when it comes to beta-time. don't mean to stress you, just so you don't forget me when sending out the betas...
