Hi
a big wonder happened i exported an Model to XSI and it works
So i readed this tut:
http://www.gametoast.com/forums/viewtop ... 36&t=13539
but i haven't understand. there are a lot of words i don't know and a lot of pics are broken.
So if i'm right i make a tga file with gimp/paint.net/PS/PSe...
and then i can load this in XSI and say what part of the tga is for what part of my model???
So there is the point i don't understand. pls can someone explain in EASY words. would be great if someone can upload some pics where to klick...
Thx in advance

Afaik only .tga works in BF.
Anyway, if you can tell me what exactly you don't understand I may help you.

i agree.
if you want, invite me on xfire and i can help you in german.
but i think wazmol is quite easy( this way i learned texturing in xsi)

this you can make via an UV-map

Thx a lot i just found XSI Basic tut and what should i say here a result:
so i think everything is working but there are still lots of questions
i used cubic but when i played a bit with the functions i found the texture editor. and there i saw my object. i could move all parts of the model. in the background was the picture (tga) but i don't know how to use this function. do you understand me?? if not i'm looking to get a picture of this.
So how can i make textures like this (i mean the texture all the points..)
naru i think you're right it was something with UV can you explain me how this works??
i don't have xfire but i can give you my e-mail

youre right anakin,you need UV mapping, cause that is why youve got these black stripes.
ANDEWEGET has made some realy good and helpful video
tutorials about the basics in xsi and about UV-mapping.
ithink you sould watch this video and then ask again, if there any questions again.

i haven't understand much (=nothing)
so can you explain how to do this very easy??
==EDIT==
there is something really going bad i tried to export the untextured tivulture and the mshex crashed
==EDIT==
here you go the first complete version so it's a kind of beta texture.
next step i'll try to export
==EDIT==
so here my first problem after exporting i opened msh with mshviewer.
there is no texture on my tie and some parts are at the wrong place.
i klicked on I (to look what name my texture has maybe it was changed) and found this.
Photo show about what i did
==EDIT==
next step:
adding glow effect with Mshtool 4

Wow that's really cool.

You can't export untextured models in meshex3, they have to be textured.

yeah i'm looking to make an engine tail like you do for your shadow but i don't know how it works.
so i'm watching your thread very carefully.
for the first time the glow effect will do

Really? It says in the readme for meshex that you can't do that.

Oh well, it's looking good anyways

which ingame pics? from your model?
i could do that,
BUT you can do this too. you only need to press the control (in german Strg) and the print (in german Druck) button the same time. but then you can only make one pic, close battlefront,open paint (or an ther programm) press paste(einfügen) and save it.
the
EASY way is: download XFire and you can make so many screenshots as you want, without any other programm, only press the same key-combination

you can make ingame videos, too

you can also simply press "Druck" for 2 second ingame and battlefront will save the screen as .tga-file in gamedata\screenshots.

well in your latest post you asked whether somebody could take ingame screenshots...
that leads to the tought that the model works but for some reason you cant take screens of it.
about the problems with exporting: there are countiess threads about issues when exporting with meshex, maybe you canh find a solution in one of them.

Oh no thats solved.
a new question.
i imported a RC and an ARC trooper.
i want the ARC helmet and the poludron.
can i unfreeze them?? i selected the parts and deleted the rest. but if i texture it i have some problems because XSI wants to have the same Tga for the poludron and the helmet but i didn't want
