Universal dead unit props

ive been meaning to release this longer than a year ago, but we began working on prosecutor and now its a little later....

this pack contains animprops in 10 different poses for dead units. you can use them in combination with any unitmodel you want. i included the sourcefiles for the animationset so that you can munged a new one if you want e.g. dead wookies or droids.

here are the instructions on how to use them:
Hidden/Spoiler:
1. Copy the "msh", "odf" and "munged" folders into your "Worlds\XXX" folder.
2. Open the deadunit.odf and change the geometryname to the dead units.
3. If you want to have different unitmodels, change the geometrynames inf the
individual odfs.
4. Place the props in ZE, they will use a clone model, dont worry, they are just to
make the placement easier because animated props cant be displayed properly in ZE.
5. if you really need a collision for a prop, make an odf using the
"propname_collision" msh file and place it on the same place as the prop.
And this is how you munge a new animset for units that dont use the normal skeleton:
Hidden/Spoiler:
1: Copy the "SoldierAnimationBank" folder into your maps "Animations" folder.
2: Copy the "basepose.msh" from the desired units animationset in the assets into
the "deadunits" folder and replace the original basepose with it.
3: open the "munge.bat" and change "Worlds\AAA" to your maps name that the
animtionset is munged to your worlds munged folder.
4: save and run the "munge.bat"

Ah, funny. We both must have read that same post of yours. :P

Sounds really interesting, I'll be sure to use these if I ever need dead bodies in a map. :thumbs:

so if you shoot somone they fall flat on there face instead of BF2's death anims? Or do you place dead bodies in ZE? Or both?

If you know how to read and understand the title of this topic, and if you know how to replace and munge custom animation sets, then you will know that the answer is both.

these are anims for props of dead units.
props means that you place them in ze
dead means that they dont move.
you cant use them as deathanimations for units because they are static. deathanimtions need to contain the actualy transition from standing to dead (falling down).

But when would you use it? Well I could think of times when, but why :roll: ? I thought Battlefront had like a stand-Up anim. :?

exactly, you can replace the getup anims with it, we use it for the jedis on prosecutor.
