What I meant by "Geographically speaking" is how a university physical geologist would define an island (I took physical geography a year ago and know that stuff), which as you have it would not be an island would really.
Yeah, but that wouldn't be any different from a beachhead map/plain land map and you know we wouldn't be able to make such big maps/maybe possible, but can't be expected from all modders in a contest.
It's like your saying "I followed Geography for one year and now I know stuff". I know as well as you, as well as anybody, how hard it is to make a real, naturally formed map in this game and it can't be expected to be done by everyone. (it may be a bit too hard for a contest)

The Battlefront Files December 2009 mapping contest is now officially underway.
http://starwarsbattlefront.filefront.co ... rway;44833
The theme is Canyon/ Ravine. I'm hoping to see lots of great maps from everyone!

I see it's underway. I was hoping for islands, but a canyon'll do.

I would beg to differ with that on the grounds that it's hard (or easy, as I see it, so long as you know what to do) to make a real, naturally formed forest/canyon/cave/mountain map. Really, for an island all you need is any one of the terrains mentioned above (or others), surrounded by water.

I know that, but bobfinkl seemed to be saying that those weren't "real" islands and I replied that in the deepest sense (and scientifical) way he was right, but just that nobody cares since we're not able to reproduce the eroding process in SWBFII.

If you want to know exactly why I'll PM it to you (it really is quite an interesting subject in my opinion), but as for now we have to make canyon maps so arguing on the subject is pointless although if you really must then let's continue it through PM.
Good luck to all who enter and may the best modder win.
EDIT: Nevermind Mav pointed out a detail I had overlooked, while it answered one question it just furthers the mystery to me, and I am determined to find it out due to my own interest.

Well, good luck to all who enter! I hope to see some great maps over at Filefront soon!
I've always loved contests because that means more maps for me!

No idea if I'll be able to get something put together for this one, but I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone else has to offer.

Anything I throw together will be uber small, seeing as my XSI and BF2 are both nonfunctional at the moment. Were it only BF2, I'd give a shot at modding blind, but as it were my favorite sketch I can't do without Modtool.

At school, still waiting for 3 hours before he can do his last test of the year and can then start working on maps again.

I'm not a modder, but from the workload I've been getting from AP courses, I can guess that everyone else would be busy doing their work. Teachers like to cram in stuff before the holidays. What grade are you in anyways?
