Are you guys experienced modelers? (you can make your own building)
As in you can do this:
I fine with giving lots E-P to anyone, tomorrow I'll update the signup list for those who requested those. however, I'm saving lots a-d for custom buildings made by the owner.
Give me a bit to fix mshex as well. I'll try to hand out DMI kits tomorrow, saturday at the latest. tonight is too late, I'll wrap things up in the morning.

Fine.I want M2.
Also, can, if our buildings are high enough, they go out farther than one lot?
Also, for non-weapon units, how about some weapons like:
- Open (could open doors, windows, etc.)
- Wave (Hi! or, Goodbye!)
- Tool Kit (Fusion Cutter)
- Drugs (Stamina Pack that replenishes Stamina)
- Defense Turrets? (only shoot at weaponed units)
All just ideas. I'm sure at least one could be done.
And how about every two to five days there's a patch that only includes the part that's been changed? Then the downloads would be quicker, and the server would be up-to-date.
Oh, and that's one [Diet Dr Pepper] model, Rep!

You coud add an animated trolly/train/thing w/ passenger slots for an easy transportantion or to just view the world
EDIT: ALso an idea i had has football toss:
Heres how youd do it
-Start with ammo dispensor
-Edit ammo geometry to football
-Edit dispensor and ord ODF's so football has correct gravity, velocity, ect.
-When you toss, you lose the "football ammo", when you catch you get the "football ammo" back

I'll be definitely making a building, once I get 3ds Max working.

Yeah I sure we could do one of those. I really don't want to update the map very often, as it would cause all sorts of compatibility issues.

genius! We could make it bounce too. Perhaps a ball would be easier, as we wouldn't have to worry about which way it's pointed.
Ok I'm working on mshex today. Using crosswalk XSI 6.0 text --> .msh file.

Yea I was thinking last night about the house I was gonna make, and I wanted openable doors, I figured the best way was a button the you can break, but that repairs itself in a matter of like 5 seconds. It would be nice to thus have a 'Open" weapon, that does building damage only.
Oh and could I change to G4? I think my building may not be so tall as it will be ... deep.

Okay, okay. This idea is so awesome I can't resist. Give me space and I'll make a house model.
EDIT: I don't get that MshX thingie or whatever it is called. What does it do? And why 3Ds Max? Can I still make my model in XSI and simply hand it to you? Confusing...

I don't have buildings THAT big, mind you. No, I just have one to two floor buildings, 'cept one, but I'll bet ten cookies that it's four times larger than you giant one that you scaled down, rep.

Changed my mind, staying at B1.
You can make the model in any program, aslong as you can get it into .msh one way or another.

Thanks for that Caleb1117! I am just so excited about this...
One question though, how many stories can it be? Any special rooms I should include? Or can I just go crazy with the ideas? :greeny:

I'd need to catch up on modeling (it has been about 6 years, or more), but a building should be easy enough. Skinning would be a bit of a problem, though. As I said earlier, it depends on when MeshEx is ready, since I can't obtain a proper version of XSI from their site and I'm not going to go around begging people to export models for me. I'll play around in the meantime, and see what I can come up with.

I don't think there is a limit, other then it has to be no wider then a 60 Meter square area.
Like mine I'm starting on is 8 stories, 40 Meters, tall. 2 stories on the surface, the other 6 below ground.

So are there going to be areas outside the city blocks that will eventually be available?

I'm a terrible modeler, but would like to have a plot reserved for down the road.

Building modeling's a synch. Or, at least until you try to make a cage in XSI... ugh...*shivers*

Not to worry, I'm sure we can get you a nice Prefab house.
Anyway, here's what I've got going so far, note that only from the doorway up will be visible from the outside.
those windows will have transparency aswell
You can't see it, but I've got the staircase in going to all 8 levels, thanks to Rep

If I code a login system for the plots could I have D2 instead of F4? I'll also try to make my own building. I have some modeling experience, but not a lot.
The login system would be accessed by a use/open weapon on a console inside your plot. You would then enter in a preset password with buttons in the interface. If your entered password and BF2 user-name match the ones registered with the plot you will get admin access to certain stuff in your plot.

Looks good guys!
I uploaded this stair model if anyone wishes to use it:
It has server me well so far.
MasterSaitek, would that work online? I know a lot of scripting doesn't, even the little I did on battle arena made it crash.

It should work, but I"m not sure. I'll get a quick test together and try it out on my LAN.
