Just whipped up a halo CE M90 shotgun similar to this one:
My one is a bit simpler, due to the blueprints I used, but its good enough....Any suggestions?

Gave it a texture based on an image I found online -
Is using such an image (from the halo wiki), against the copyright laws?

Copyright Rules wrote:Little bitty stuff here and there (a few sounds, part of a few textures) we will overlook. More than that might raise a red flag.
In other words, it's fine. You're not directly ripping it from Halo either, just from a screenshot on the wiki.

Nice to see you're working on this one too. I always wondered how you did the shape in the sphere.

^Actually made it years ago, just the animating part made me kinda not wanna mess with it much but I recently decided to finish it since all it needed was feet. The head was easy, just some edge drawing with '\', extruding then deleting any leftover vertex's that weren't needed.
Got loads of models that I don't think I've never showed on these forums that were made for this game and many more that weren't.

Some sort of light assault rifle. Untextured for now. Concept art by MetroidNut.
Oh, I just realized I forgot the magazine.

Well, it's a sort of curved black rectangle in front of the trigger.
Edit - Slapped on a couple parts, the aforementioned magazine included, as well as a texture of edited, kitbashed stock textures.

^Looks odd, textures don't fit at all, stretching and some areas are a higher resolution than others.

The scope and the two parts below it are somewhat higher resolution, and the magazine is stretched, but I tried to make the rest of it more-or-less fit together.

You should just make a new texture since making a texture from another model fit something else never works out good.

Oh, I suppose you're right. I've tried to learn texturing several times before, but each time I gave up when my work consistently turned out like Diet Dr. Pepper. It feels like a steeper learning curve than modelling itself. I know it's worth it in the end, but I've never quite gotten that far. Feels like time to make another attempt, though.

Baking out a UV map to a .tga/.png and then copy&pasting parts you want into this texture and playing around with different overlay styles, color balance, clone brush etc is better than trying to create one from scratch the first time. You'll see how the original artists made their textures and then you can try to recreate that. Lots of references/pictures of the material will help alot, too.

A flintlock musket, it's 2500 tris, so I could optimize it abit but I'm pretty happy with the result. Now for the texture.
