Battlefront/Battlefront II and Macintosh and/or Linux
This may have already been answered and if it has I apologize for making a new topic.
My question is can Battlefront I and/or Battlefront II run on either a Macintosh or a Linux computer?

SWBF1 runs on a Mac if you have the Mac version; SWBF2 does not. You *might* be able to get either of them running on a Linux distro through Wine, but I've never tried it personally.

OK following off of that, I've tried installing Battlefront II in Windows XP mode on Windows 7 Professional and it doesn't seem to work but I didn't try that hard either. I'm wondering now if I would have troubles if I ran it on a Mac or Linux in an emulator. Or is that what Wine is?

I highly doubt there is any sort of sandbox or emulator for Macs other than Boot Camp, but that's for dual-booting Windows entirely. Wine is essentially a Windows software emulator, yes.

Windows 7 it works fine except for crashing and losing graphics occasionally. In XP mode it says something right when I try to open it. It's been so long I can't remember what exactly but I think it has something to do with virtual machines...

I know for a fact that it can work on mac, since I have played it on my own mac, a while back. I don't have it anymore so I'm a bit rusty, but there is a version of wine for mac called winebottler. Also, if you want a commercial, supported wine application crossover is definitely worth a download. You do have to pay for it though.
Bootcamp is definitely the way to go if you want to play games properly though. If you haven't got a windows install disc, wine is your only other option.

OK Thanks guys. I was a bit worried that if I got a Mac or Linux computer, I wouldn't be able to play the Battlefronts anymore. At least there is a way!

Well, you don't really "get" a Linux machine; you "add" Linux to a Windows machine! 8D

i dont know if it still helps, but you can find a fix that supposedly allows you to run swbf2 on a mac in this topic.

There are several options to run SWBF2 on a Mac.
1. Bootcamp with Windows. This is the easiest and fastest way because it makes a native Windows Pc out of your Mac.
2. A virtual machine. Using Paralles or VMware and boot Windows while using MacOSX.
Check it out here: www.parallels.com
3. Crossover/wine. SWBF2 will run using Crossover. You start it like any other Mac Software.
