It depends on where you put the dc: and what you mean by

If done correctly, then you will see the new side. Making a new side/editing an existing side (same concept) can be found here: http://www.gametoast.com/forums/viewtop ... 27&t=12729 from the FAQ thread.

let me clarify, if a new side has the sam prefix or name will there be a problem (i.e. all, rep, imp, cis, jed...)?

If you try to load your imp side and the game's imp side, yes.

I figured that, it makes total since.

So, if I just load the custom imp side there will be no problem?

If you mean you want to use some shipped Imperial units from the game's imp.lvl along with some edited imperial units from a custom imp.lvl then no there won't be a problem, because the dc tells the game to look in your modID _LVL_PC folder instead of the shipped one which will load your custom lvl files seperately from the shipped ones regardless of having the same side name.

no, thats not what i mean. i want to edit all the shipped ones in a new imp.lvl and load then from the new imp.lvl. I just didnt want to have to rename everything, because it takes forever.
