Looking for information regarding bones

Post by willinator »

Okay GT, I've got a question for ya. In the quite distant future, I am going to make a special map, with a special, complicated unit. This unit will not behave like any other in Battlefront, so it will need a new skeleton and new animations. I understand that this is a massive undertaking, so I won't be doing it for a while. However, I will be practicing with all sorts of models until then to practice. So, my question is this: What does it take to create a new skeleton, and the animations to go with it. Alternatively, you can provide links to documentation that provides some insight, or direct me within the assets. I tried the search function, but all I got was VF01 saying he wouldn't do it with his elite because it would require 70+ animations. Any help is appreciated.

Bookmark that page, download the unit template for reference on proper hierarchy and also read this...

Remember the biggest thing that I made a mistake on that made all my animations on a walker a huge waste of time, when making a bone chain it MUST be SI|3D Skeleton Drawing.

I also bought this DVD years back and it really helps A LOT when you know how to create a rig for your character, makes animation a lot faster and easier when you can have controllers to animate rather than trying to do it 1 bone at a time.
