Okay, so I have been wanting to create a "Deploy Health Droid" for quite some time now. A weapon that places a droid onto the battlefield, which heals allies that are close enough.
Sounds simple enough?
FIrst thing I did was replace the Auto turret deploy with the Health Droid that you find in maps. It spawned, but did not heal.
I then tried to replicate the Auto Turret as close a possible, only I switched the weapon for a buffed, "Regeneration Buff" and added "AutoFire = "1"" to make sure it continuously used the weapon.
Still nothing.
Has anyone tried something similar and got one working?

Re: Deploy Health Droid?
no but i have a funny idea
replace the heal droid with the turret but set the damage to a negativ value, so everyone who gets shot by the turret gets plus to his lifepoints
dont know maybe that does not work but i will definitley try it

Sorry nomatt, that won't work. What I think might work is an autoturret that uses lines from the fusion cutter (AddHealth) and set to target friendly units only. Look at the fusion cutter ODF for reference. I have made a healgun before, so I know that it could work.

I believe that you can simply go into the health and ammo pack dispenser odf (or one of the many) and change the object that it dispenses to the odf of the healing droid. I've done this with vehicles and it's quite fun. Yep, right click and instant tie fighter.

I tried the method with the buffing autoturret, and it works. Make sure that your autoturret's (the "building's) ODF has it's own parent. The parent only needs to be a renamed copy of com_bldg_inf_autoturret.odf, but if you use com_bldg_inf_autoturret.odf as parent it won't work for some stupid reason.

Also, using negative values for damage doesn't heal, it does an instant kill.

Thanks Bob - I don't know why it didn't work before, I remade all of the Parents, and created new ones.
Now the question is, how can I do the same for ammo?

No buff for that, but if you like autoturrets you can let one dispense these ammo powerups people drop on death. Just remind to get that turret it's own parent.
