Lok

To quote my topic on another forum -
My first map in a while - although far from my first map period - is now released.

The readme -
Map Name: Lok
Map Author: Hero_Unit

A desert map based off of the planet Lok (namely, its portrayal in Star Wars Galaxies). There are, of course, similiarities between this map and the shipped Mos Eisley, due to both its environment and the fact that it started out as a modified, expanded Mos Eisley, gradually transforming into what you see now.

There are no custom playable units in any modes, save for both assaults.

Installation -

Unzip "RTA" to your addon folder (usually located in INSERT DRIVE NUMBER HERE:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData).

Known Errors -

Certain areas of water seem to crash for Vista users. No idea how to fix it.
The junkyard walls sometime visually disappear. No idea how to fix this, either.

Credits -
My Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
[IGF]_Dark_Jedi_Benndak/Lord_Acheron - for helping me with the map's environmental accuracy to SWG, various quite useful input, supplying me the map's sky box, and beta testing.
ANDEWEGET - buildings with interiors.
fai222 - for creating the SFOR Republic Carbine model.
DarthD.U.C.K. - for Cob Blacketco's backpack.
George Lucas - for creating Star Wars.
Pandemic - for creating the Star Wars Battlefront series, and most of the assets used.
Maveritchel - for creating Arkus Black's lightsaber model.
Gogie - for creating the Darth Revan model.
Caleb1117 - for creating the Mandalorian model, as well as several props.
(Jedi)Fallen - for originally creating the Cob Blacketco character (not the unit, the RPG character), and also requesting him to be added to the map.
General_Omega - for originally creating the Ju Nohenkai character (not the unit, the RPG character), and also requesting him to be added to the map.
DarthVader'sCat/Raccoon - for originally creating the Darth Mallous character (not the unit, the RPG character), and also requesting him to be added to the map, as well as beta testing.
[IGF]Dragonseye - for originally creating the OM-HY98 character (not the unit, the RPG character), requesting him to be added to the map, helping with a few problems, and beta testing.
NeoMarz - for Mallous's head.
Qdin/OOM-9 - for Mallous's body.
NullCommando - for hex-editing transperancy into the Cody parts of Mallous's armor.
AceMastermind - for placing Mallous's head onto his body.
The creaters of the SWBF1 conversion pack - for the KOTOR sides.
YouJediJunkie - for creating various building models.
Sony Entertainment Company - for creating the original sky box image.

If I've forgotten anyone, please let me know via the PM system.
And, of course, the link - http://files.filefront.com/RTAexe/;1295 ... einfo.html
KOTOR localization patch - http://files.filefront.com/Lok+Patch7z/ ... einfo.html

Hey, you used the readme where I'm right under Jesus, hooray! Anyway, great map, I loved beta testing. My favorite part was probably the gurks. (and how they can drive the speeders, lol)

You're missing all the KotOR localizations.

Hmmm... looks interesting. Who's the guy with the clone armor and red lightsaber?

The sky is falling? (a cookie to whoever gets that reference).

Seriously though, what's going on with the sky?

Thank you for uploading those.
Maveritchell wrote: You're missing all the KotOR localizations.
I wasn't quite certain how to fix those at the time I released the map. I'll probably upload a patch to fix them later on.
Nova Hawk wrote: Who's the guy with the clone armor and red lightsaber?
Darth Mallous.

I'm not sure what's wrong with the sky. On my machine, it looks normal, so I suppose it has to do with DEVISS-REX's graphics settings and/or card.

Yeah, the KotOR localization bug was something hero said he'd fix at release. This is still an early version, and I suppose he'll release some bugfix in the future.

:) Hero_Unit!! Good to see you again! I thought you quit modding after cancelling Venurd? Nonetheless, the map looks nice, I'll give it a look.

Hello, Phazon. Good to see you, too.

I'm not certain if I did or not - I can't really remember. But, regardless, I'm back.

Here's a small patch that should resolve the KOTOR localization issues - http://files.filefront.com/Lok+Patch7z/ ... einfo.html

Hero is back in ther world of modding, in the nick of time! :D

And great map. Did you try ot hex-edit Vader's BF2 cape onto Mallous, though? It'd look better than a BF1.

Still I kinda like that stiff cape.... Meh, maybe that hex-edit will be a project for Deviss to try.

I rather like the stiff cape. It's got a pure, black simplicity to it. Though I prefer Vader's cape, Hero said it confused him too much. Nonetheless, Hero's got several projects nowadays, and he's hard at work.

Currently, I'm working on another map - I'll definitely keep Corellia in mind, though.

revanshan wrote:Which map? Korriban? Taris? I defenitely would love to play them.
An SWG-style Dantooine, though Korriban is indeed a good suggestion that I'll likely do, eventually.

I'm fine with that.
revanshan wrote:And about Dantooine: There should be a cristal cave, like the one in the leaked gameplay from Battlefront 3. You could use the structure of the cave you find in Dagobah (that way it wouldn't take you very long).
I don't recall seeing a crystal cave in the leaked footage, but that suggestion does nonetheless give me an idea (I'd elaborate on it, but I'd rather keep it vague, if for nothing more than the fact that I don't want to spoil anything until I finish and release the map).

Ah, beat me to a SWG-style Dantooine. Heh.

You going to include the Imperial Outpost with the starport and cantina and everything? Included quite a bit of AT-ST's patrolling the area. As for Imperials, just basic staff as far as I look at them. Basic small outpost that I can suggest the Rebels could attack for some reason someone can later explain.

And if you do Clone Wars-era, I have no idea what you should do there.

As for Lok here, yeah. The sky on our end looks wierd. Intense whiteness. Unless that's fog and I am a blind bat or something. You know, I'm trying to make a DWB map myself, but I've not made much progress on it.

I'll just PM you with details as I don't want to advertise my map in other people's threads... just distasteful in my eyes to do something like that.

RevanSithLord wrote:Ah, beat me to a SWG-style Dantooine. Heh.
Heh, I'm fine with you working on one - I rather like variety, anyway.

(On a bit of an off-topic note, I apologize for only making one texture for your Talay map before dropping out like that. It was really quite rude of me to do that.)
RevanSithLord wrote:You going to include the Imperial Outpost with the starport and cantina and everything? Included quite a bit of AT-ST's patrolling the area.
Oh, I have an Imperial outpost - though it's not the one you're speaking of, since I don't really remember it well enough to replicate it.
RevanSithLord wrote:As for Lok here, yeah. The sky on our end looks wierd. Intense whiteness.
:?

It could be a problem with your graphics card/settings, but I'm not really quite certain what the exact source of the problem is. I apologize for not being of much help if I prove mistaken.

All right.
