Kashyyyk: Beachhead

Hey GT! This is my first "non-snow" featured map that takes place somewhere on kashyyyk. It is suppost to be similar to all the stock Kashyyyk maps, and also the bf1 mod map; Kashyyyk: Kachiro.

Map Layout:

-Republic and Rebels have 2 starting CP's one at the village, and second at the platforms
-CIS and Empire start at a sandbar
-So far, there are 3 open beachhead CP's and one open sandbar CP

Vehicles:

CW:

-IFT-X's
-BarcSpeeder's
-STAP's
-Armored Tank Droid's
-Spider Walker's
-FragMe's AT-AP (This is a maybe)

GCW:

-IFT-T's
-Speederbike's
-Alliance AAC-1's
-AT-ST's

Heroes:

-Yoda
-Jango Fett
-Boba Fett
-Chewbacca

Map Size:

-Large

Now time for some screenshots of what I have so far!

Looks good so far as a WIP. I am a fan of large maps myself. Before I comment on anything else, I would like to sign up for any beta there may be in the future, and I suggest changing the name of the map. Beachhead is very generic and is really close to the stock BF2 name if I am not mistaken. If you want I am sure we can come up with some better ideas.

I only plan to change skins, nothing too serious. :|

Good. The stock setup isn't really that bad.

Anyway, the map's looking nice, but is there any way to hide that tiling of the terrain texture at distance?

Are you talking about "ViewDistance"? I want that turned off since there is no fog or any weather.

Can I signup for the possible future beta?

Also, that looks great. If you don't want to use only stock mdoels, I recommend usign the (ML)Kashyyyk assets : http://www.gamefront.com/files/20028017 ... assets_exe

yeah you should defiantly increase the tile amount for the texture you used on the hills and such so it s not that painfully tiled
other than that the map looks nice!

I can surely Beta-test. I just think you should change the Jango too, dunno...Grievous or a custom :? . Anyways the pics are great & see if you can put some gunships!

There will be no more Beta'rs

Ok right now I somehow reached the size limit for the map, so I have to delete some stuff in the ZE. :(

Looks like a nice map. I also am a fan of Big Team battles. The only thing is that the map looks a little too bare for my liking. You might want to add some more foliage, barricades, turrets, etc.

Other than that, good job!

THIS MAN SPEAKS THE TRUTH!

Kashyyk doesn't look too rocky in the movies, but I would recommend adding lots of reskinned geonosis rock cover in between the mainland and your island command post. If you make it zig-zaggy and path-like, you'll have some fairly intense vehicle combat, in my opinion. I'd really experiment with what you can do with the openness.

What makes this map different from the three stock Kashyyyk maps? No offense, but to me it just looks like some awkward hybrid of the three stocks at the moment.

Sort of off-topic:

To be honest, and this isn't directed towards the author, but I am really tired of maps based in the Star Wars galaxy; not that they are bad or anything, and I know that this is a Star Wars game, come on, they are just so aggravatingly repetitive! I would really love to see some maps that take place on Mars or the Moon or the Andromeda galaxy or heck, maybe even that newly discovered possibly habitable planet in the Gliese 581 system! Just because we have not yet traveled to any of those places (other than the Moon [derp]) does not mean we shan't use our own imaginations rather than George Lucas's; it does not mean we cannot make up our own stories or our own characters or our own ideas! So that is my little spiel to hopefully engrave itself into the minds of our fellow modders.

If you want it, then go ahead and make it.

I agree that the beach looks a little empty. It's not always a bad thing to have some open space, but the area could do with a few more points of interest, especially around the command posts. I always try to avoid placing command posts out in the open - I like to place them near some sort of 'landmark' feature (you'll notice that this is the trend in the stock maps).

I, too, would like to see more cover on the beaches. How about adding some large rocks? The stock ones can be rotated and lowered into the ground for a variety of shapes.
