Importing Layers

I may be wrong, but isn't there a way to import layers into a map that were constructed in another data_123?

I'm not sure, but I think how you would go about it, would be to copy the .lyr file for the layer you want from the other map's Data_***\Worlds\***\world1 and paste it into your map's world1. I know that's how you can externally (meaning not within ZE) remove a layer, because I've used that method when one layer was causing ZE to crash. As I said, I'm not sure, but I'd say that'd be a good place to start.'

The problem is, is that if i just move the layer there, it still doesnt show up in zeroedit. I tried adding it to the req, but that doesn't work either. I'll try adding a layer in zeroedit, and copy the contents from the one im importing over.

Ah, yeah, didn't think about that, sorry :?. Um, if I have any brainstorms, I'll let ye' know.

Oh, also, if you have access to a zeroeditor version of the layers you're getting (don't know why you wouldn't), I would try making the layer names exactly the same. Just seems like that would make it more likely to succeed.

Ahah, that seems to have done it. What you do is one:

1. Go into the data_123/worlds/123/world1 folder of the map you want to import a layer from, copy and pasted the hnt, lgt, lyr, mrq, pth, and rgn files over to the data_456/worlds/456/world1 folder of the map you want to import the layer in.

2. Open zeroedit and open the 456.wld file, add a layer, the name doesn't matter. Save and close.

3. Depending on the contents of the layer, you will copy the contents from the files you copied and pasted into the files that you just created with zeroedit. If it's just objects, then you will just be editting the lyr file. (hnt for hintnodes, lgt for lights, pth for spawn paths, rgn for regions. For the lyr file, you need to keep the section that is already present in the file. When you copy contents over, you need to find the corrosponding section in the file your copying contents from and not copy that bit, but everything after it over to the other lyr file.
