Transforming?
Hey there! I'll let you guys in on my next map. It will be a transformers map. It will take place on earth, Auto bots v. Decepticons ,etc. But I dont know how to get the transformers to transform. I was thinking mabey you could by crouching, just like the droideka. How would you go about doing that? Thanks!

Re: Transforming?
Highly difficult, if not impossible. I suppose you could create a "vehicle" unit that transformed like a droideka, but that'd require a new model, new animations, and advanced modding knowledge.

Re: Transforming?
That would take a very experienced modder, and a lot of work to make one, let alone 6 for each team. That would take forever.

Yeah, I was thinking mabey once you pressed 'Ctrl' a vehicle could like teleport to you and you could be forced in. And have a "getting in" animation, which is you transforming.
I was thinking more along the lines of 3.That would take a very experienced modder, and a lot of work to make one, let alone 6 for each team. That would take forever.

Re: Transforming?
Even so, this would be extremely hard. I've never heard of anyone trying anything like this.General_Nate wrote:I was thinking more along the lines of 3.That would take a very experienced modder, and a lot of work to make one, let alone 6 for each team. That would take forever.

Re: Transforming?
We can't detect a player's random key presses. However, we can detect a player dropping something, such as a turret. Teleporting a vehicle and forcing the player in is easy, but if one manually spawns a vehicle, we get problems. Manually spawned vehicles don't have working primary weapons. If the player isn't going to fight much, this isn't an issue. For the animations, well, you'd have to create those yourself.Yeah, I was thinking mabey once you pressed 'Ctrl' a vehicle could like teleport to you and you could be forced in. Re: Transforming?
No They are going to be cars only. So fighting in vehicle mode won't be an issuue. As for the animations, I'll just have to learn how.[RDH]Zerted wrote:We can't detect a player's random key presses. Hmmmm... Mabey you drop a turret and are forced inside. And like when you get out The turret goes away... That might work.
Thunder, don't be getting any ideas.hhmmm interesting...

Re: Transforming?
Extremely difficult to do at all, and impossible to do without it looking like total crap. And no offense, but something like this would take a team of VERY talented and experienced modders a few months to do.
I like your ambition, but it's definitely over your head at this point.

Re: Transforming? No.
Ok, Thanks. I figured it would take a lot. I'll just work on the next in the list!
