Hi all, I'm new to modding  (and new here) and have one question- how do you mod?! I've downloaded the mod tools, of course, read the getting started document, made that little map you make in the beginning, and played around with the ZE. But I can't figure out how to work the ZE at all.

I want to make a mountainous map and I don't know how to change the terrain to be hilly.

And another question, where do you save your WIP map from the ZE. Like, where do you put it when you exit?

And yes, I loaded the map...

Thx for any help!!!!

Welcome! I'm sure that you will like your stay here....
I recommend visiting...
The Everything You Need to Know Thread here.
And about your problem....

If you mean making the terrain smoother than use the Blend button in the height section.
And as for saving then it will save from wherever you loaded your map from so you just need to hit save again when the dialog box pops up. :D

Hold on...I forgot to ask yout this when you were online. You have created a new map right? And then you opened ZE from inside your Data_ABC folder? :? Just so you know, you move the map up and down with F and V...that held me back for like a month  When you open ZE, you have to open that map you created under "Load". Make sure you Load your ABC.wld file.

See where it says "Height"? Make sure that is selected and then click "Raise" then pull your mouse out over your map and a green square pictured above will appear. Then hold your left mouse button down and the terrain will move up. For whatever reason, I can not figure out how to make it go down. :x Now you see why I couldn't explain this to you on the server!

Welcome to GT!

ok... well.... crap Darth posted the link...

Read his post.

EDIT: to make it go down I believe you right click...

Also, for models there is something with the ctrl keys, and the x, y, and z keys... been too long since I did any mapping.

thanks :P

Now, do you have any rough layout so you always have a somewhat clsoe idea of what you want? it's always good to have one of those
