Should I get the game? It seems interesting enough. One thing I am wondering though is, is there still a substantial online following?

I believe there still is. The singleplayer is excellent too. There's also plenty of mods out there the game.
IMO, it is the best SW game I've ever played. I highly recommend it. The combat is really fun, force powers are excellent, and the story isn't bad.

I bought that game recently off Steam, and I love it. Online is still strong, and the SP is very fun. It's a must buy game.

Agreed, JKA is excellent, but is old so there may be some risk of not running on a newer OS, but is does run on my Vista. The saber combat still rates the best ever IMO. And the force powers are the best, or tied with KotOR, although not as diverse, but more fun to use (still IMO). (and yes, Ive played TFU and still think this)

Wow... hehe I guess that's a yes.
So that officially puts it at #3 on my to-buy list, 1 of which I may not actually buy. Hmm... I'm currently running 7 on this computer, but Vista is on the other one...

I've been wondering about that game as well. It seems that everyone that I come across who has played the game told me that they loved it. But I have one question: which one should I get? Because isn't there a #1 and 2?

It's a decent game. I got it a couple years ago off of Amazon because I knew it still had a strong modding community. I always enjoy a good Star Wars RPG, and this one was fine. I think the controls are a little bit overwrought, but I know many people like the control scheme. If you're going to get it off of Steam, go ahead and just get the Jedi Knight series bundle (which is only $20 for the whole series). I haven't played JKII, but from what I hear it is a more enjoyable SP experience.

The Dark Forces series is four games long (plus an expansion):
Dark Forces
Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight (+ Mysteries of the Sith expansion)
Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
Jedi Knight III: Jedi Academy

Ah, thanks Mav. I'll have to put that in for future video games that I'll want to buy.

I believe the list Mav provided of all the games in the series is now available off of Steam. I'm proud to say that I've played all of them. Dark Forces and Jedi Knight is by far on my personal top 10 list of best games I've ever played. So yeah, definitely get JKA, but if you want to see the storyline that took place before hand, by the whole thing off of Steam.

Mysteries of the Sith is an expansion to Jedi Knight, not Outcast.

You mean that wasn't what I said?

(edited to rectify my error)

I haven't played the earlier games in the series, but I loved Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy. I don't even play multiplayer in either - it's fun enough to just spawn enemy bots in SP and fight against them or to play around with all the different cheats. Academy doesn't have the greatest story, but it's still a ton of fun. Definitely get Academy, and I recommend going ahead and buying Outcast as well. It's essentially the same gameplay, and I think it has a great story for SP. Or just buy all of them.

you will get bored with stock characters instantly lol, so be prepared to fill your HD with lots of models/skins/packs/etc. oh and once you learn how to do cheats SP will be much more fun, and less of a hassle on the higher levels (god mode is for fails, zombie mode is the best lol).

I love spawning a legion of Stormies, and a watch them get slaughtered by just one Mutant Rancor! It's so funny to see them try at killing that thing! And then, For cream on top, I release... a Sand Worm thingie upon them!

Agreed (minus the bit on god mode - I like to turn it on when I'm just running around having fun

). There are a lot of great mods available for nearly every aspect of the game - maps, player models, weapons, effects, sounds, you name it.
