The model looks awesome!

Almost like it was designed by the same studio :P

:funny2:

It is a great model, of a ship I'm not a fan of. :P Never liked pretty much all of the large KotOR ships. Still, it's true to what you were shooting for; so regardless of my opinion on the ship, nice job.

After a few hours of work I've got this, tough making these ships when there's hardly any true game reference out there. It's by no means a final work, gonna watch through some of the games cut scenes to get a better look at it, pausing here and there.

For both models you can really reduce the amount of sides some of the cylindrical objects have since most of them are small and in contrast to the rest of the model larger parts are more rigid and have less detail. The wheel bike for instance, the wheels have probably the same amount of sides as the 2 gun barrels but are much larger. Same with the fighter, the rear section of the fuselage has probably the same amount of sides as some of the other parts that are smaller and have a cylindrical shape.

If you're going to try to make parts smooth it should be the parts that are large that would be more noticed, for instance no one would notice in game that a lightsaber had 8 sides rather than 32, it's too small to be noticed, especially once textures are applied.

Thanks for the advice minilologuy18, the reason those are so much more poly-intensive is because they are imported from a different modelling software, which is programmed to output circles of a certain number of sides, no matter the scale. I will later clean these parts up.

Yep, it lets me quickly input ideas, which I can clean up later.

I'm pretty sure you can pick the number of sides in sketchup:
When you first draw a circle, type "48s [ENTER]" for 48 sides. or click on the circle and open the Entity Info dialog box. You can not change the divisions once you pull it to a cylinder though.
I haven't actually tried this, but it should work...

EDIT:

^I honestly never understood why it's even used in the first place considering Mod Tools is free and more advanced in every conceivable way. People should focus more on learning softimage considering ANDEWEGET is working on his tool so that people can export anything they need.

VERY early wip but I couldn't help myself, was taking a break from KotOR themed stuff and decided that this game badly needed a better Nebulon B Frigate model. The one in the assets is only good enough for dome usage IMO considering it's lack of detail.

Can't believe no one has tried to make one but I will admit it's a rather odd thing to model, I found the face of Kain to actually be easier.

We need more activity still in this section.

See, I don't make the model solely in sketchup. I import it into XSI as a basic outline of what I want to do, and then I make the detailed model from there. It just saves me a lot of time, which I don't have a lot of at the moment. Also, sketchup is completely free for what you need to do to export to xsi.

The full, new versions of Softimage are free as well if you're a student. ;)

Really like the look of that ship mini!

I figured I might as well post these random medieval assets here. They're not that amazing, but hey, they're 3d models. :P

Thanks. :)

Just been making a logpile as well. It's pretty basic, but up to SWBF2 standards:
