Hi,

i have a problem with retuxturing. It's the first time i do on 64 Bit so maybe there is the problem.

I tryed to retexturet Devis Commander keller. after i changed the helmet texture and reopend it in MshViewer there was still the old texture. after i only OPEND the bodytexture and saved it again (no changes) the whole msh wasn't shown anymore.

swbfviewer only looks for the textures in the same folder as the msh, if your skin is saved somewhere else it won't be found. swbfviewer uses keys for navigation, even if you have it running in the background the camera will be moved when you press those keys thus you may not be able to see the model anymore. reloading the model resets the camera.

Are you using GIMP or Photoshop?

If GIMP: When done editing the texture, did you just hit Save? Or did you hit Save As and then turn off RLE Compression?

@Duck

it's not the first time i do retexturing how you can see in my WIP Asset thread. I KNOW how the MshViewer works. I opend the Msh in the viewer by drag and drop. everything was fine. i opend the tga file, after that i klicked directly on "save". and than i closed the viewer restart it and opened the msh by drag and drop again. i haven't pressed any keys.

@Wulfman. i used Paint.NET. but i did this for the older assets, too. the only thing i changed is that the PC is now Win 7 instead of Win XP and it is 64 Bit instead of 32 Bit. so the Paint.NET is also 64 Bit software.

I've never used Paint.net, nor do I intend to, so I can't help. Sorry.

Wait, one last idea for your first problem. Is the file set to Read Only? Check it's properties to find out. I've had it happen where it's a read-only file and it won't save your changes.

Easy fix, uncheck the Read-Only box in the properties of the file.

only read box?? do you mean (Schreibgeschützt??) if no it's not so i couldn't open the file and save it.

But the thing with RLE it's in Paint.NET too. So when ic press save there is a pop up asking for the quality and i don't know what else. nomaly i only hit ok ("do what you like if you save my file" XD)

there was RLE checkt. never noticed this before. i uncheckt it and it worked :D and now after i did this one time this box is uncheckt every time i save a tga :D

So my question now what is RLE???

Run Length Encoding is used to make the file smaller. It's not a huge difference in file size, so it's really useless, at least to me.
