dude. go back and open all your tga files and resave and make sure that RLE compression is NOT checked. Next, to open you LUA just open up notepad, or whatever editor you use, and got file>open then browse to your LUA and open it. when the dialog box pops up about making it your default program for opening LUAs click OK. scroll down til you find the ReadData() lines and add in the dc. Go ahead and munge EVERYTHING. now launch up swbf2 using the BF2_modtools.exe (check the FAQ thread if your not sure how). Post you BFront2.log (check FAQ thread on where to find it). We cannot provide more help until you do this. Also, on a hunch, im not sure its your sides, if you say it was crashing before you added the "dc" to your lua then the sides may not be the, or at least the only, problem that is crashing your map. at any rate, post your BFront2.log so that we can figure it out. if you have further questions you should talk to people on xfire, as something can be solved there in about 5 minutes as opposed to 5 hours. mine is myers73

xfire is an instant messaging program for gamers, that also keeps track of gameplay hours. Im merely suggesting that if you IMed somebody for 5 minutes they could probably figure out the problem fully and diagnose a solution, and you would be very happy. About the waiting 20 seconds...wtf? did you change the resolution to 1000000 x 1000000?

Ya its not if I wait 20 seconds, I guess I just got luckey and it worked once I tryed again and dident change a thin g and it dident work, but anyway if you could answer this it would be awsome,
when I load up the map it shows the screen where you decide what team you want to be on, but as soon as I move the mouse it suddenly crashes,
but I am going to try some more tests and see if Ican diagnose the problem
but id love to here from you

My guess is that he's munging some unnecessary files (like the entire rep side, or whatever).
In answer to an earlier question, you cannot "go overboard" when it comes to colors, though if you do make sure it looks
good.
Also, there is no real need, most of the time, to post warnings from mungelogs. Error from mungelogs will crash the map; warnings won't.
Here's something to help you diagnose the problem:
FAQ Thread wrote:Question - I have the CD version of SWBF2 and I get a binkw32.dll error when trying to launch the BF2_modtools.exe, what's wrong?
Answer - The BF2_modtools.exe is the debug executable, copy it from the main BF2_modtools folder and paste it in the same folder as your battlefront2.exe, usually:
C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData
then you can launch BF2_modtools.exe and play your map to get a BFront2.log located in that same folder.
If you have the DVD version check THIS LINK for a DVD version of BF2_modtools.exe
Note to Vista users:
If you can't find your BFront2.log it may be saved to this location:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData
The log that pops up when munging is called the
munge log, this other file, BFront2.log, is called the
error log (or sometimes
debug log.) Post it and we'll see what we can find. It's very helpful.

ya I am munging the entire rep side

thought it dident matter but I read it up on another tut. and I thought it dident really matter if you use the entire folder or not,
but to get rid of usless stuff I open up rep.lvl to take out unessasary fils right ?

It's tricky to edit .lvls directly. To take out unnecessary stuff, you could open the file rep.req (in Sides/rep) and remove the lines for any troopers you did not edit (and then load the ones you needed but deleted through a stock side in the lua). Or, if you're only changing skins, you could go the extreme file conservation method and only munge .tgas in a .lvl file, without any mshs, odfs, or anything....
....But I get the feeling I didn't explain that all too well. Let's just focus on getting a side that works before we worry about how large it is. We can always scale it down later.
And be sure you have the Common side munged (in the dropdown list) at some point. The reason you need to do that is because a lot of ODFs make references to common odfs, which are in the common side, and if you don't munge them as well as your side's odfs, then the game won't be able to locate them.

I had a similar problem at one point. Make sure you have the Common sides in your sides folder, make sure your [side].req and [side]shell.req are not tampered with more than they should be, and lastly double-check your LUAs in Common\Scripts\ABC\ to make sure dc: is only before the sides you mean to modify, and just make sure you didn't change anything else and happen to forget about it.

Yes I have checked all of that, I am starting to get extremely confused because as I mentioned before It worked and all I saw was the green visor that I put on the .imp sniper and the The map tryed to play over again and it crashd rofl
I was so excited and happy like you would not beleive I worked so hard to get there mjust to see it corrupt right in front of my eyes
Oh an I cant seem to find my bf2 log but I will keep looking for it since it helps diagnose problems easier

Well, even before you find and post it, the fact that you can see your skin allows us to narrow down the possibilities:
Just the fact that the trooper exists means you are loading the side in your lua correctly.
The reskin shows up, so it's probably not a problem with that.
My guess is that you're a little confused about the Common side (as you seem to have plenty of questions about that and when you need to munge it). I'll wait for the error log to confirm or deny this.
And as for the log's location, remember the Vista tip, if you run Vista.

Hi all that have been having trouble. Yeah, I have to update my tutorial because I left out a few things. It will be probably a couple of weeks, but I'll make one before to long. I will add a note on what else to do in my video until I can update. I apologize for that. Right now check out the other skinning tutorials. Just search it.

alright no problem bro and can you talk louder when you do the vid, cuz you were kind of quiet thanks,
but I will probably have it working before you get your vid out
also your words did not match up with the video
Im dot think ill ever be able to mod

, ill keep trying though
EDIT:
yay my zero-edit worked like a charm so I now know its not the zeroeditor messing it up, now im just going to add the dc to the script and if it works i will so happy
but id justlike to know for future refrence if I change the script do I have to remune the world?
please let me know soon, cuz the sooner you let me know the sooner you can be my
HERO
EDIT2:
ok I now know that you need to remunge it for the scripts to work if you change them after a munge.
but something else I may figure out on my own, but just in case:
I changed the lua script for imp and put the dc in the right place after my munge, now do I just clean my world then just remunge "EVERYTHING" again and it should work?
EDIT3:
yes I had to clean and remunge and it worked my skins now work
I would like to say thanks to everyone who helped me and commented on my posts to finally fx this problem hopefully people will read this entire thread and use it to help them.
I will soon be making a tutorial from a noob for noobs because I know what is and isent hard to do ill be making a .doc and a video tutorial on youtube.
I will be happy if only help one person as much as I was helped my the gametoast community y far my favorite swbf2 site.
Next thing I would like to know is how do I add my skins to shipped/official swbf2 maps I know that it will take hard work and days of computing but I think its worth it

_______________
EDIT4
I am having a different problem I want to edit my odf's but im not sure if i need a de: anywhere please help me, never mind te odf's are working fine and no de: is needed but something I really want to know is how to import my custm imperial side into a shipped map preferably coruscant or mos eisly please, please, please help
