Clean, Clean all? i acidently pressed... now warnings?!

Post by Dark117 »

I munged and played my map before making these changes...

1.Deleteing waterfalls from leval (4 in total)
2.Adding all_hover_combatspeeder to galactic era and clone era in lua to call them so vehical spawns. (hoping this will work)

So i made those changes above and went to go munge it... i pressed clean all by accident and then closed window, then i pressed clean by accident and closed that window. Then hoping my map would work i munged... resulting in these warnings...

... Well actuly.. during writing this i tryed mungiing again rather then cheaking pc log for the errors... and this time igot no errors... can someone explain to me WHAT cleaning does so i can understand how come i got the warning then but not now... Thanks ... appreciate it  :x

Cleaning isn't bad. It cleans the munged files that are copied to the mod map folder and the .lvl files. The only thing is, if you don't clean every time you make a major change, the major change will not show up, because the old files will still be in use.

If you don't change something major (something like changing the sides is major), cleaning isn't necessary. Also, you can just clean certain, recently-modified parts.

never crashed for me! I like cleaning... Majin Revan gave a perfect description of what it does... I put in a sky, but i wanted the background,, but even though i had all the necessary files... the background didn't show up in the map.... but i had to clean cause... the map was still reading the lod sky file... so always clean for Majin's reasons

Well for my map Tatooine Hunt zone I pressed clean and it started to crash
and for my new map Endor: Death of Knob I changed the sides ALOT and it
started to crash randomly so I was wondering if I cleaned maybe it will
stop crashing

EDIT: by changing the sides I meant like changing units to other units

like rep_inf_ep3_rifleman to rep_inf_ep2_rifleman

cleaning isnt that important. i only clean if my munged folders are geting to big. cleaning deletes everything already munged and the next time the munge will take a long time cause it cant just copy everything over. you dont need to do it all the time either, theres no need to remunge things like MSHs or most textures.

whys your map crashing? because you deleted a file you needed, but a munged version of the file still existed. later after you cleaned, the munged version got deleted and and now causing your map to crash.
