Malware Types

Post by Marth8880 »

The most common type of malware is called a Trojan Horse, which is named as such because it is disguised as another program, usually as an anti-virus and usually asks its victim to pay for a "license" for it. The second most common type of virus is called a Downloader, if I am correct, and they download other malware to the host machine. Another type of malware is called a Rootkit because it installs and embeds itself into the host machine's system files; these are some of nastiest malware around, along with the next type. This type is called a Worm, which spreads through its victim's network. Let's see, there is also Phishing which is acquiring a user's banking or credit card credentials through their cookies, a Keylogger which records the keystrokes of its host.

Yeah I remember an infection of my former computer with malware. The PC has shut itself down automatically at anytime it "wanted". I couldn't detect the malware with my Antivirus so I had to reformat my hard drive. Some really bad Diet Dr. Pepper. I hope I never see something like that again.

Alright, seeing as the post quality can't get much higher than this I'm locking it.

I guess this will be helpful to our members who have no idea what a virus is.
