Imagine the rants about there not being Gordon Freeman.
He'd be the guy you only caught a glimpse of. Problem solved.

And I think Valve could make a TF2 movie work. Just look at the "Meet the ___" videos.

Oh, and sorry for derailing this topic. I even tried to make my point subtler by making it small, but to no prevail.
You notice how long it takes them to make each Meet the ___ video? They have a small team on that, a movie would take forever. And there really isn't enough plot in TF2 to support a film.

As for the HALF LIFE film, that'd idea would get rid of Gman, and all that good stuff. You'd have to have it straight from the game to make it successful IMO.

In my opinion, a movie for either Halo or Half-Life would only work it were something that added to the canon, and not an adaptation of what we already know.

Valve received some proposals for a Half-life movie, but they rejected the idea because the scripts sucked. Besides, we don't need a Half-life movie, Half-life's place is at the PC (and Xbox 360), where it can be fully developed and have its story told in the most adequate manner.

Why are we even talking about Half-life? Why do people always correlate Halo with Half-life? I never understood this odd connection/rivalry. The only thing the two games have in common is the fact that they are both First Person Shooters.

And both characters are silent protagonists, And both games had a pretty big impact on gaming at their time, And both games (the originals, CE and HL1) spawned multiple sequels and other fiction, And etc. etc.

So? There were other FPS games before those two with the exact same characteristics and impact in the gaming industry, yet nobody compares them. Both Half-life and Halo were very influential games, but I don't see the point in associating one with the other.

Well, these are both some of the best known sagas to this generation, although Half Life was brought up because of movies, not because of the games.

A Fallout movie might be good.

Anyway I defidently think that if I had a choice between the Halo series or a ODST movie I would go with ODST.

And while a Halo movie in theory is cool, it probably wouldn't be executed very well, because although there are the Halo books that add life to the Spartans, the majority of people that play the games most likely haven't read the books, and the movie would most likely be a crude adaptation of the games.
However, if it were an adaptation of the books, that would be pretty cool. At least in my opinion.

I stated in the OP that I knew the video was put together by fans.

@DarthHamster

My apologies, I suppose I missed that.
