So I've decided to go ahead and give you guys a taste of the sides and gameplay in terra strife.

And since I'm lazy, I quote from my readme:
READ ME OR ELSE I WILL BE FORCED TO SET THE MIDGET RANCOR ARMY UPON YOU wrote:So yeah, this is the Sides beta/demo for Terra Strife, I've chosen Mygeeto to set this demo on, which, as Maveritchell said, seems to be a fairly balanced map with a variety of environments.

What is Terra Strife, you ask?
It's a modern warfare mod. For now, that's all you need to know ;)
To give you a hugely stripped-down, uber-basic description, there are two forces struggling against each other. Cobalt Force and the United States Armed Forces.
Cobalt Force is an international terrorist organization (at least to the United States they are)

INSTALLATION:
I'm sure most of you have gotten the drift of installation by now, but for those who are new, simply extract the folder titled TSS into Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\AddOn, wherever that may be.
Then start up Battlefront 2, and the map should be on the Instant Action menu now.

Since I'd rather let you explore then sides yourself, and how they play, I won't give you a description, however there are some screenshots you can look at to satisfy your appetite for previews.

Bugs/Errors/Things that are wrong that I know about:
- The HUD weapon icons are not set up completely correctly, I got them to the best I could
- Automatic weapon sounds will sometimes glitch due to the high rate of fire
- Scope remains fixed while moving (UNFIXABLE)
- Ammo canisters/bacta are still default onse (will be fixed in later versions)
- Voiceovers are still for the Alliance and Empire (possibly unfixable, any help here?)
- No localization for any language besides American English (will be included in later versions)

Note: Some weapons had to be cut out from the mod, but will be released shortly

Credits:
- Pandemic and the entire Star Wars Battlefront II team, for making a great game with big modding possibilities, and also making the Mygeeto map, which is what this sides demo takes place on! XD
- Repsharpshooter, for just being there all the way, helping me with any modding/modeling questions I had, and also texturing a sniper rifle that's not in this sides demo, collectively known as the "protosniper"
- elfie and Nullcommando, for their really sweet skins
- Kyrottimus for his radio sound pack (possibly eventually)
- The whole Gametoast crew, for numerous tutorials and helping me with whichever problems I had

Tips:
- Play realisticly! Use cover, take your shots wisely, and, don't spray (fire on full auto for more than 1.5 seconds) unless it's absolutely necessary
Weapons have been toned and adjusted to realistic values, keep that in mind as you're playing
Here, a quote from Schizo (slightly edited):

Okay, heres my biggest advice for both teams; dont go all Rambo and charge headlong into the enemy. I know you can
do that in normal BFII and survive, but lemme tell ya, in Terra Strife, you wouldnt last 10 seconds doing that. Charging
into the enemy base isnt going to work. Youve got to learn to take it in strides. Choose a position, stay in it,
lay down supressing fire, and when the enemy starts to weaken, then move up a little bit, take up position again, and
repeat the process. I know its time-consuming, but if you were on a battlefield with bullets flying past your head,
would you just stand up straight and run out into the thick of it? I dont think so.

Use cover to your advantage. I cant stress this enough. Cover is important in Terra Strife. I realize there are places
where theres very little cover. You know what you do then? Get outta there, dipwad. Dont just stand out in the
open; youre just asking to get shot. Find cover, and use it. If you can use cover, and then use the strategy I
explained above (lay down supressing fire, move up a little bit at a time), then youre bound to make a lot more
progress then if you just charged headlong into the middle of the battlefield.

- Choose the class that best suits your environment
- The position of your body effects your accuracy (ie, shooting while standing up and running will be less accurate, staying still while crouching will be more accurate)
- Give multiplayer a go, set up a server and invite some friends, I did design this with multiplayer in mind as well ;)
- Enjoy yourself!

*Future versions WILL include more content, and especially the more interesting kinds, you can be assured of that ;)*

I finally get to hold those amazing models of yours in my character's lowres, unrealistically stable, digital hands! (In other words, your models are much better than the stock models)

Win! I'll have a review up by the end of the day, this looks amazing. The weapons look like they're part of a different game. Are you sure you didn't port these from crysis?

At very first, this kinda looked like the old WW2 map, but it's quite easy to tell that this is much more in depth and good-looking. I'm glad that this is a mod-map, since mods always seem tio mess up the Convo pack, at least for me. I'll DL and give feedback when i get home tonight, but this does look really cool. One question: will you include custom maps (or ported maps) or will this be a sides mod?

I might be making a mappack based on these sides, or release these as assets (either way the community get them eventually  )
Haven't really decided though, I'll see how high school goes and see if I have time or not

I'm getting a FATAL: Could not open MISSION\TSSg_con.lvl error when I try to run this map. I don't know why.

Check if your addon folder is packed, possibly you may have hit the map limit. Anyone else have this problem?

I only have 37 map folders in my addon folder. It might be the 1.3 Patch/Convo Pack. There's been some compatability issues there lately.

Take out all of your maps out of your addon except this map. I'm pretty sure its the Convo pack mission.lvl (Mos Eisley Assault crashes too because of this).

It could be your settings. No big bugs that I could find, the only things I noticed was that some ai were carrying a pistol which none of the units when I played with them had (it could be that's because gunslinger is legendary for me). I would personally make the grenade explosion more like a real grenade as I've been told they just shoot out shrapnel like stuff, but I could be wrong. Also it seemed fairly inbalanced as the U.S. marines always won. Again this is just me, but I would add a rocket launcher guy to the terrorist side and a blood effect when you get hit (there is one in the effect banks somewhere). Apart from that it was very fun, harder, and I can't wait to see what you come out with next, so good job and keep it up!

It is actually quite easy to win with Cobalt Force, you've just got to play like a mercenary (guerilla tactics, taking cover and popping shots out whenever you can, etc.)
I'm not sure if I should add a guy with an RPG-7 (rocket-propelled grenade) to the terrorists, because a real RPG-7 shoots out the missile that is attached to it, and that's not possible in SWBF2.
I'm a bit iffy about the blood effect because, well, it looks kinda.... weird...... but I'll put it in in the next version and see how you guys like it.

These sides are really nice. Its very realistic. I noticed that the US forces always win. I had to go all Rambo just to survive. USA USA! Is it just me or to the different teams use tactics? I think that the US forces were using a swarm tactic and the Colbat used a more suttle abroach. The Colbat could use a rocket launcher. Any ways good work.

I'll try what you said, and what you could do for the RPG is change the msh of a rocket to a grenade (i'm not fully understanding what you're saying about the rocket detaching, but I think this is close to what you're saying) and have another grenade shoot out at the same time (increasing the salvo count) and giving it such minimal spread that it will strike twice, but it will sperate only after a certain period of time, or you might be able to make a second ordanace and give one of the grenades some rebound (I don't think that's possible now that I think about it, but oh well).

Alright a few things I noticed while playing this:
- The Quality is terrific! Even better than I expected, plus it doesn't get old really at all.
- The Terrorist side needs more units that the U.S side has. I believe it is slightly unbalanced because of this.
-The sniper rifle has a hud issue.
- Possibly consider a new explosion effect for the grenade, give it some smoke atleast.
-Everything else is very good, I had a lot of fun playing this.

Yep now playing a bit more, I will definitely raise the unit count of Cobalt Force, they are definitely at a disadvantage, and of course, that does make the situation more realistic.
