An error accured in the script on this page

0. the link you post doesnt work. and fred has said that the "edit sides" function in BFBuilder pro is not up and running yet, he's still working on it if i'm correct.
so that would kinda be an issue if yur trying to edit a side there. ;)

1. from what i can gather yur trying to mod something with the atst correct? in that case you'll prob need to copy most if not all of the atst files from the shipped assets to yur project.

2. make sure you put yur new vehicle in the mission loadouts like saturn and i both stated. and if u hav no clue what that is, thats ok. we can help. and you'll learn eventually :D

3. try to be specific about what yur doing in yur posts so we can figure out what you might be doing wrong or whatever and point you in the right direction.

4. hav fun, thats what its all about :D

I was actully editing the darktrooper odf.
That's all.


I think the only thing I'm not doing right is with the lua file.
I'm not sure where it is.
And I know that's important.

I'll take psychos post and tell you where things go wrong for me.


"Message: Since this tool is going to take a while I thought I'd let you know what you need to do to add one of the existing sides to a project for editing.

First and most important you have to change the path in the mission lua to point to the dc (downloadable content) folder. In this example I'll tell you how to add the alliance side and set it up that it will munge and be included in an addon. Warning, it makes for a 63 mb download zipped.

First edit your mission lua so instead of loading SIDE\\all.lvl it loads dc:SIDE\\all.lvl"

(First thing) Where is the mission lua file?





Next copy the alliance side folder from Assets into your project's side folder. You'll see there's already a GAM folder I left behind that isn't being munged with your world.

Now the hard part, modifying the munge.

Go into the _build_pc folder and edit the munge.bat file there. You'll see a section I commented out that looks like this:

REM STARTSIDES
REM cd GAM
REM @call munge.bat
REM cd ..
REM ENDSIDES

Remove the REMs and change the GAM to an ALL as follows:

REM STARTSIDES
cd ALL
@call munge.bat
cd ..
REM ENDSIDES


"Now edit the clean.bat under _build_pc, replace GAM with all in the one place it appears there.

Go into the _build_pc\sides folder and you'll see a GAM folder left behind there as well as clean.bat, munge_fpm.bat, and munge_side.bat. Edit the clean file and change GAM to ALL. Next make a copy of the GAM folder and rename it ALL. Go into the ALL folder and you'll see a folder called munged as well as clean.bat and munge.bat. Edit munge.bat and replace GAM with ALL.

Now back out of _Build_pc and open _lvl_pc. Create a folder called FPM under _LVL_PC. I think FPM needs to be all caps. Now open FPM and create a folder call ALL. Make sure all of the folders under _LVL_PC are writeable.

Keep in mind that these instructions are specific to the sides that shipped with the game. As it comes to creating new sides with new animations and new first person models, etc, the instructions get really hard or I finish the tool.

Go back into your project's sides folder where you copied the alliance assets and start changing them. I don't I forgot anything, but if you munge and the levels starts crashing let me know and I can figure out what I skipped. When I tested it myself the only problem I had was making sure _lvl_pc and _build_pc were writeable."

(Part two)

And I do all the replacing "Gam" just with imp cause I'm editing the darktrooper.


So this is where I'm at.

Everytime I think I'm done and I try to munge it.
By the end of the process It says 0 files copied!!!

And sometime 3 files copyed.
But they are only little 1kb files that are not an IMP side.

So that's where I'm at.


I know this must be a little anoying so I think you people for your long suffering.

Well I have to say I think that was a very idiotic remark, any person with the least intelligence would have seen what a very useful thread this is. It has provided the means for numerous newbies to be helped, and has generated much useful discussion on the topic of modding. Up to this point, as any discerning person can see, the only idiocy has been yours.

ya, its not a "killing jedis" thread , discussing ideas suchas landing ships on them, but actual modding stuff, like editing the odfs and whatnot. BlackHawk549, you made a very uninformed post, and in doing so, made yourself look like an "idiot".

i know this started out as a "killing jedis" thread but even though it kinda diverged from the original topic i'd say it was a good and informative divergence. glad to hear some ppl have benifited from this cgartist ;) and others im sure as well.

that was really my main goal with this, just to be able to help/provide info for anybody on this fundamental aspect of modding sides for BF.

no hard feelings though :)

ps.stellcat, i didnt hav time to read through yur whole post -gotta hit the sack right now-
but i'll be on the case tommorow :D

All i was saying is that instead of trying to do something most people dont care about. If you really have nothing to do maybe you could try making submigable ships, intead of them just randomly bouncing off, I dont remember a time when metal doesnt sink, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT WEIGHS 2 TONS. Just an idea if ur bored!
