The Structure of the Universe Vs the Brain of a Mouse
This is possibly one of single most interesting images I've run across in a while.
One of the things I love about the universe are simple common patterns such as these interweaving threads of neurons and galaxy clusters. The main reason that I am probably looking into the field of astronomy for a career is just how endlessly fascinating and mysterious it is. For all we know (which is little nothing compared to the near infinite amount of information that there is to know) the universe COULD be one giant brain or vice versa. There is so much about the universe that is unknown....and I just thrive on that. I thrive on discovery, and not just discovery, but just the simple advancement of knowledge through invention, speculation, and discovery. And seeing a picture like this that sparks so many questions just leaves me fascinated. I simply love the universe...

Since when have we been able to take pics of the entire universe?
But, anyways, just imagine the other undiscovered wonders of our world.

I don't know how to respond to that. It's so incredible, but at the same time, there are lots of things that if looked at at the right angle, can look very much like something vastly different.

It's a computer generated image based on tons and tons and tons of data about the known universe. Not only that but by observing the trajectory of various galaxy clusters, we can sort of theorize how the universe expanded, so they have visualizations of various possible points during the universe's expansion.Leo the Larg wrote:Since when have we been able to take pics of the entire universe?![]()
But yes it is quite amazing.

i love studying stuff like how the universe expands and how planets, suns, black holes, etc. are formedSBF_Dann_Boeing wrote:It's a computer generated image based on tons and tons and tons of data about the known universe. Hmmm...very interesting. Now if they can only tell us where to find Jawas in that big mouse-brain-ish mess we call home.

Re: The Structure of the Universe Vs the Brain of a Mouse
Interesting coincidence. Although, that would be pretty awesome if those endless cycle theories were right. Imagine, being able to map out the whole universe by looking at a mouse's neuron.
And I applaud you for wanting to learn new things about how the universe was created, truly a good cause, and very stressful, for reasons very obvious that I'm not allowed to talk about either.

It would be so cool if the brain of a mouse was a universe itself.

Hey hey hey, I was about to say something more or less like that. It goes something like "Wouldn't it be awesome if we were germs living inside the brain of a mouse?"Leo the Larg wrote:It would be so cool if the brain of a mouse was a universe itself.
