Adding Weapons Help

Post by Xterminator »

Hi , Im quiet new to modding and i was wondering if you could help me with somthing.
I have made custom skins for my troopers and i can put them ingame but how do i give them custom weapons like say giving the clone sniper a bothans stealth or a jet trooper a sniper rifle.

Help would be great :D

Go into the .odf's in your custom sides folder and in there you can make new weapons, or change weapons. To get the bothan stuff you would go into assets and copy over all the .odf and .msh that go with the bothan weapon and paste it into your side then edit the unit's odf and add a weapon section for the weapon you copied over, or replace an existing weaponsection

You could also check the everything you need thread there may be some helpful things in there since your new

Same with me, but you get used to it and it will become more familiar with time.

Exactly, BTW, the file you might want to modify is the "???_inf_default_?????.odf" that is a default class parent for all of its kind, being engineers, troopers, etc.

Although you can always make a complete class file the shipped assets have those default class files, so the child class files are usually the ones calling for specific models and skins (when override texture is possible).

You must take the shipped textures from the assets/worlds folders, and move them into your world's world1 folder. Then load them into ZE from theere, using the browse button under the texture tool.

And BTW, to change the names of your weapons (if you turn the rocket launcher into a rifle, for instance, makes no sense to call it a rocket launcher) use editlocalize.bat in BF2_Modtools/data***.
