On the map itself: it's coming along well, though something about it makes me a little uneasy. Do you have pics of the other sections? You told him to "read your post", but with the first post only containing screenshots of the beachhead, it's no wonder Anakin thought that was the only section of the map, despite what you wrote.

Looks Good!
Just a suggestion, maybe you could make the water a bit darker (just referencing to that real life pic that was posted by Revan). And in one of the pics, near the beachhead, the water seems too deep, for being close to shore. I imagine the AI might have some trouble.

I do think it should be a bit darker and more gritty (not by too much, though). And I was actually gonna recommend upping the terrain under the water a bit, but I think he meant to make it like as if soldiers had to go over the sides of the Higgins-style LCVP landing crafts and go into the water (it was a tad deep IRL in certain places.) I imagine it isn't a far walk for the AI, but I admit, it'd look strange in-game just 'walking' out of the water. Too bad there was no actual 'swimming' in BF2. That would've been pretty cool to implement, to be honest. These 501st Infantrymen, or at least some of them, would've been able to swim, I think. Others not so lucky, due to getting hit by enemy fire or sinking to the bottom because they can't swim. I think the tank trap obstacles should look a little more worn as well as the anti-landing craft obstruction, adding to that, I think the bunkers should look a little bit damaged unless I'm just blind.
And of course, I think there'll be much more than the 501st in this mod. Need to make the SW equivalents to the other real life Infantry Divisions.

just a comment about swimming, would it be possible to categorize a class as hover or somat like that in order to put a hover on the character which would enable it to "float" in the water with a hover above water value of like 0.1 or something? make a new animation that activates when in water where they are on their bellies?
ON TOPIC: sweet map, i love the look of your clones.

for you!

No, Samofbia, swimming like that is not possible.

Looking great so far, Commander! I'm liking the tank. I was always annoyed at how the Republic always looked so limited in terms of vehicles. Needed more variation, in my opinion. No doubt, this mod is going to be including lots of variants of different things. All being equipment to blow stuff up or shoot enemies!

Nice work!
Map is coming along greatly, can't wait to get this mod series going further. WWII inspiration for the win.

Yes WWII inspiration for the win is right. I'm sure lots of people (including myself) have thought of doing something like this before. Muffins for actually doing it. The layout of the map is nice. The sides are looking great too. Keep up the good work. One question. What does designated days mean?

Ice came up with the name for the mod. It sounded cool to me, so I rolled with it, but it originated from 'D-day' and since the "D" did not really stand for anything historically except 'Day', Ice gave it a meaning for this mod in particular.
"D-Day" and "H-Hour" are general military terms used for the day and hour to mark the beginning of an important event. Eisenhower and Churchill may have tried to give the "D" an actual meaning for the benefit of the press and the civilians, but previous to that, it did not stand for anything except "day". Each operation had a D-day and an H-hour. Starting from day 1, - 0 hour, it starts counting as in D+1 day, D+2 day, etc.(
Source is Wiki.Answers.com, but I summarized it...and was used to confirm it so I didn't sound ignorant since I'm actually into WWII things. I had to make sure I was correct.)
Our mod in particular will be spanning different planets and theaters in different maps. Each side will be made to try and resemble their counter-parts but in a very Star Wars manner. We've decided that the "Ost-Front" style theater of operations will not be included, but the "Pacific" and the "Afrika" (spelled like this on purpose) campaign styles will possibly make a debut somewhere. For now, we're concentrating on the inspirations from the "Normandy" invasions. We'll be giving them their own theater names of course, but I'm just using real life theaters of operations to describe what's going on.
One thing I've always been wanting to see is a Pearl Harbor type map, where the CIS would be attacking the Kuat Drive Yards with Vulture fighters and Hyena bombers. Stationed at KDY are Acclamators-I's and Venators (Venators serving as the 'battleships' in 'battleship row' and the Acclamators would act as 'destroyers' perhaps. Republic gunships and the like would be like PT-Boats or something. Very few Republic fighters as most of the fighters would be destroyed. I'm thinking this might kick off our Pacific type theater if it can be done right). Just an idea in the works if people here want to think of something.

Hi. A small update on the tank. I finally got the commander spot and tank gunner spot done. As the gunner smiles for the camera while the tank commander tries too look professional.

This looks like my type of map, being a fan of the battlefield series. You've definitely got the right atmosphere, and the skins, and models are top quality.
