Sides folder

I recently downloaded a map that contains great new characters, but the map is basically crap (just a grassy field). I wanted to know what I must do in order to transfer the new characters to another map, or the entire game. Ive tried simply placing the contents of the SIDE folder into the SIDE folder of another map, but it only changed about half of the characters. I've also tried to replace the main game SIDE folder contents located in gamedata/data/lvl_pc/side but it didnt work either.
Just so you know, the author said in the readme that I can do stuff with his files, so dont say anthing about that.
Thanks a lot

So, you only want to use the heroes?
Here's my plan:
1. Find out what hero has what side (lvl) (for example kit.lvl)
2. Open the mission.lvl of the map, search for the side (kit.lvl) and somewhere close to the kit.lvl will be his code (for example kit_hero_fisto)
3. Now, when your making a map, in your .lua, just add the ReadDataFile line and add kit.lvl, kit_hero_fisto")
4. After munging your whole map, put the kit.lvl in YOUR map's side folder (where tur.lvl is)
5. Now play it! (When it's in your addon)

Good luck!

Thanks, but that is way too complicated for me at this point. I just wanted to know if it were possible to do it by just moving files around. I don't even have the map making program or any other tools. Ill keep your reply though so that when I begin making my own maps and stuff (which I plan to), Ill be able to then.
Thanks a lot though

If you want i can do it for you. Just give me the map name with the cool heroes, and I'll make a mod which you can install by running a setup (nothing more) I have to work on this offcourse, but 2 days will be enough. The heroes will be in your game....just that simple

Here is a link to the map:
<LINK REMOVED, CONTAINS ILLEGAL 3D MODEL PORTS>
Will it be possible to easily change it back afterwards? I don't want to be stuck with this and be unable to play online. Thanks a lot for offering to do this. There is no way I could do it myself at this point and I really appreciate your help.

No worries, and it's not a huge waste of time as long as someone learned something. And just as a primer on GT's policy about importation: if it's community-created content, then it's ok. If it's ported from a game, then it's probably not.
