So I just started modding again on a new computer after a couple year break. I started with a new world and quickly realized munge didn't work with my Win 7 machine. I installed vistamungefix.

Currently I can munge everything except sides with no problem. My map is currently using the side lvl files froma map I made years ago, however when I copied the side assets to my new map and munge the .lvl file it gives is about 5 kilobytes less than what it should be. When I run the map with the new side fill it crashes to desktop on loadscreen. When I ran it with Bf2modtools.exe it did the same thing and left no error in the logfile.

Did you copy the "common" side into your map and munge that before your side? it doesn't look like it can find the "common" odf's needed for your side...

You don't need to munge the common folder, it only needs to exist in your side folder. VM pulls what it needs from there while munging your custom side.

Really? Thats nifty. I always just did it assuming I needed too.

Well I figured out a bandaid fix for it. After some digging I unearthed my assests for the old map that the side.lvl files where made for. I used that map to munge and it could munge the sides perfectly, despite that map's assests never having the win 7 fix applied to them.

So right now I have to munge my side files separate of my current map which is annoying but it works, I'm hoping to find a more permanent fix soon.

SO sticking the common side in your map didn't fix it? And have you tried a manual clean?
