i just wondered... is it possible to change the names of the normal soldiers (hex-editing?)? if anyone know, what file must i edit? i placed this question here in the "modding" page, because that's the closest to hex-editing or just editing.

You'd have to edit the core.lvl, but why would you want to, it would appear that way only to you since you don't want to ask others to change their core.lvl, and if it's for a mod map, you just do it through localization.

The FAQ / Everything You Need Thread Version 2.0
If you mean where the actual tool itself is, have you looked in your data_ABC folder?

Is that a "yep" I see it, or a "yep" I can't see editlocalize.bat sitting right there in front of me?
I've given you all the information I can, let's get back on topic.

go into your ***/data and use the editlocalize.bat . a box will pop up wait for a few moments until a large box pops up in the large box, look on the left handside click on emnity and find the units in rep, imp, cis.etc click on them and change their names. also in the localize area there is areas to change the pause menu and commands..
