This would still need support of a few more SWBFFiles staff to run. I really haven't got the internet capacity to upload a full video review, even if I did approve all the maps.
Bias - not sure if it really would be an issue but best to keep on the safe side. I'd guess don't want any associations between map being reviewed and previous works of that mapper.
Personally if it was going to be planet centred again I'd be inclined not to do kashyyyk (it's been done sooooo many times, and done well sooo many times).
Colour themed possibly? I always find colour is very important in environment design but that might just be me....

That would be interesting. I've enjoyed the environment themes (urban, canyon, etc.), but a theme of, say, red, could be fun. My only worry is that a color theme would result in lots of ugly maps with overly-saturated textures from inexperienced modders.

I think the SWBF files rules work better, and as Xavious wrote them perhaps he'd be willing to write ones for this?

I wrote those; and frankly, I haven't seen anyone here show the kind of initiative necessary to start a contest. Some advice - don't try or bring it up if you're unwilling to follow through. Lots of people are great at pitching ideas, but the same rule applies here that applies with every mod - nobody needs "idea men," to be blunt.
I won't oppose any contest that starts now of anyone's accord, but at this point in time I wouldn't support it either. You're picking an incredibly bad time - most of the interested parties are still in school, and the beginning of a school year is a bad time to ask for extra commitment, which is why we usually run contests around summer or winter breaks. We didn't have a SWBFFiles contest this summer because no one on staff had the time to run one. We may have one in the winter, and I'd honestly just wait for that. Timing is everything.

If you're absolutely DYING for a contest, do something small or something without a single, set due date, like a once-a-month thing or a short, weekly contest.

I think Mav is right. Hold your horses until winter holidays when we have no life or for those up north (yay Canada

) who are buried in snow and are cold and don't want to leave the house because it is cozy and warm

Maybe you're right.
IDK, how about a theme that we all just kind of work on? Not a contest per say, but just to see what people do with the prompt "Red" or whatever?

A happy holidays map (for the people out there who don't celebrate christmas)
or we can go with the non-satisfy all route (I personally think we should just stick to a christmas map and just make a -insert_holiday_here- map when someone brings up the topic)
I say we all collaborate on something sort of like the dynamic map idea except less pro and elaborate. I think we could be assigned log cabins to decorate our selves and stuff. I have dibs on a cabin. If we DO do this, I want somebody to make me portraits of my Battlefront Funnies (for those who don't know what battlefront funnies are, sorry to confuse you) to hang up in my cabin so all can see.

Good Idea.
"Christmas Village"
(With like a Hanaukah section).
That'd be pretty neat.
With like christmas-ed weapons. That'd be a blast.
Elves vs. Little Children
Ooh, and reindeer could be vehicles. I say we do this

that would take a long time (probably a lot more than until winter) DMI took a Looong time
and especially with all that new stuff
i guess you could make it but it would take alot of work and time

I guess...but here I wasn't thinking we were doing huge things like in DMI, more of just little cabins.
Crayon, where'd you thread go?

It was signed off with 'Xavious'.

I would say wait 'till at least November, I'm very busy with school myself and even when I do have spare time to mod, I'm not motivated at all to do something that requires brain power

I like my idea. It WOULD take a long time so that is why we are discussing it now. It won't take AS long however. We could have a conquest mode and a explore mode. Explore just means no a.i.
Not too hard right? I think the objects will take a little while, but there ARE some assets available with this theme already. All we need is an empty log cabin and a few objects as decor. Any takers?
