ok, well i've been working kinda slowly on this for the past few weeks and that campaign on the first map is going badly. so theres a second map now, Alaris Prime - Lake! it shares the same sides, but the atmosphere is new and there are some different aspects to this new map. the map is about 75 % complete.

i've also done an overhaul on the old map, changed to foliage, added endor trees which look great now that the map was complete, and i think it looks much better:

i'm also putting up a poll to say how i should release it:
with campaign - two maps (would take at least another 2 weeks)
without campaign - two maps (would take about a few days)
without campaign - first map (ready for release as soon as i finish GCW)

I didn't know until yesterday that Alaris Prime is a moon of Kashyyk. My Diagnosis. (Nothing's wrong just what might make them better.)

Use lake fog, I think(in at least a night/rainy environment)lake fog would look good and give this map a nice feel.
Use under water objects, it looked pretty barren under water. Maybe add some rock, fishnets, or sunken boats to give the lake more realism.
Use boat combat, or speeders over the water. Might be fun, definately will add more depth of combat.

Other than that and that one mountain, it's looks really nice; that overhaul especially. Keep it up! :thumbs:

its a waterfall actually, yeah, i'm disappointed there aren't that many waterfall models for use in swbfII mods, but i'm not so good in modelling myself.
i'm also pondering on a third and final map, Alaris Prime - Hideout which would be a sequence of underground tunnels, with a snowing upper part. the idea is its where the trandoshans go to shelter in the winter. the Lake map is more based on the wookiee locals. i've also managed to find trandoshan side assets for use in the first map, and they are in hunt and campaign mode.

and thanks for the ideas, but the map is only 75% complete, and i haven't put in vehicles or underground objects yet. i go for detail afterwards :D. theres gonna be gunships, but not much water combat for speeders, it never really works that well in my opinion,

Hello everyone again, i've been back now for a few days and i've been trying to reconstruct alaris prime lake a little, cos at the moment its very, very akward to play on. Now, there is a battle but I'm still not so keen on it, oh well. i've also been skinning some imperials for the imperial jungle side and i've come up with:

new updates for the lake, they don't look different but there is some kind of battle going on. its very akward though like i said, it doesnt really work properly, but i'm working on it:

i'm also fitting this in with a new map that i'm making which should be a little different to my current foresty maps -- more on that soon. if anyone has any dark trooper or imperial officer skins suitable for a jungle or forest, i could use a few right now.
oh, yes and hunt mode, on the other alaris prime! the map in this one is the same map, but just slightly more enclosed. you can choose the trandoshans or the republic. here are some screenies:

anyway, im planning on a second public beta release without the campaign. the maps released will be:
Alaris Prime - Conquest and hunt mode
Alaris Prime Lake - conquest and two flag ctf.
you can expect this within the next few weeks i guess.

Looks great, glad to see your continuing with this. But I would suggest to change the terrain a little cuz it still looks like Yavin to me.

@ nova hawk its different on the original one. the lake map still requires a lot of lighting work 'n stuff and i havent come round to changing the terrain yet.
@ Cookie definitely. they should all end up looking slightly more like the stormtrooper.

Very nice, If you do hideout then I would reccomend you doing more of a surface to underground area. The republic starts with 2 cps above ground, must find an entry to the hideout (dagobah cave entrance)
and fight through the dozens of tunnels towards some kind of Trandoshan central computer/vital suplies.

Maybe the hideout could be on a cliff face, the republic enters through a hanger and systematically makes it's way through the entire mountain.

Just trying to give some ideas.

they are very nice ideas :D so thanks for that, but i may not get the chance to put them into action right now. im planning to release the first two alaris prime maps as said above, then my new map, then probably the second release of AP with campaign and possibly the hideout. oh well, we'll see :P

thanks:) i need ideas for a border on alaris prime lake. there is currently nothing to stop you seeing into a blank space of eternity into the distance. i could use some ideas. trees is completely out of the question :D there is too many already. any ideas?

you could:

- form a small/big hill
- place some big stones / cliff stones from Tatooine
- place a landed acclamator or a landed ship

You could put a sea wall or a wooden barricade form Kashyyyk or other such walls. That way you dould keep it looking like a large lake.

You could also reskin the Yavin Arena stairwall objects. They could do well too.
