My ship thinks it's a Mirage [Solved]

Hi, Gametoast. I'm sorry I'm asking a probably repeat question again, I just don't know how to word it. I also think it's probably on the wrong forum, but it might have to do with somethign besides the model.
I made a smalll ship in XSI and then scaled it by 100 (it's slighter bigger than a star destroyer now) I put it ingame, up in the sky. If I look directly at it, it disappears. But if I look at it indirectly, it is there. The same thing has happened with some of the ISD props on the stock maps. I was going to cloak the ship anyway using sectors and portals, but now you can't even see it when you're inside the sector. Does anybody know what to do?

Did you scale it in XSI, or via a msh.option?

Sounds like an LOD or view distance problem, play around with the settings in your game's video options or make adjustments to your sky file, I assume your ship has a lowrez mesh.
EDIT
I thought you had scaled it in XSI before exporting and not afterwards, yep your problems more than likely stem from doing that, best to do it right and just scale it in XSI.

@Rougue=
msh.option.
@Ace=
So far all of my models have had the lowres built in by copying the meshes and renaming to lowres like the outdated modeling tut said. It has worked for some of my models, but not others. I don't know if it has a working lowres... If it does, it isn't physically present. It's built in.

Don't scale anything with an option command greater than about two and a half. Otherwise you will experience the problem you have.

Ah... That explains my problem, but what can I do to fix it?

Two and a half? I experience this "mirage" problem anything over 1.9, does it depend on the structure of the model?

I'm sure it could be dependent on any number of things, including detail. The point here is not to rely on .option scaling to do large changes.

Is there a command in XSI I can use to just scale it by a factor? When I put in the values in the scale thing (or rotation or translation) only the texture wires react and nothing else happens. And if I do it Manually it won't be the same or exactly 100x.

There is a bug where XSI in modtools mode won't scale correctly when you open it up. Change to XSI default view (and then back if you wish). Once you switch views, you can be on any view (even go back to the tools view) and scaling will work.

Or to get around the bug, you just input the reciprocal of the scale factor, in this case .01, click the Transform button right above, and choose Reset Scaling.

Wow. That worked exceptionally well. But I did find an interesting side note:
a. Scaling using the Scaling Transform will need to be frozen at the end,
b. Scaling the same object using it's menu agrees better with ZEs finicky stomach...
Yep, that did the trick. But the same textures that were working before are "unsupported" now. Oh well, easily fixed.
